Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nicholas Chase (ranked 2449 p4p, 3156 weight class) and Matthias Schmitt (ranked 290 p4p, 0 weight class). Matthias Schmitt will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nicholas Chase!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Matthias Schmitt!
The judges for this bout are Darius Henderson, Summer Carpenter and Steve Erwin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schmitt moves into the clinch successfully.
Chase pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Chase takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Chase moves away from the strike by Schmitt.
Chase was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Schmitt cracks Chase with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Chase throws a series of punches but Schmitt avoids them all with ease.
It seemed like Schmitt was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Schmitt tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Chase blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
The referee is keeping an eye on Schmitt - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Chase throws a looping overhand right but Schmitt ducks down to avoid it.

Chase swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Schmitt smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

Schmitt takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

and Chase counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
We've been informed that Schmitt has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Schmitt might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Schmitt clobbers Chase with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Matthias Schmitt dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.
Schmitt smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

Chase has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Schmitt finds it's way round the side to connect with Chase's head.
Oh Chase is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
