Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nicholas Chase (ranked 2449 p4p, 3156 weight class) and Matthias Schmitt (ranked 290 p4p, 0 weight class). Matthias Schmitt will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nicholas Chase! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Matthias Schmitt! The judges for this bout are Darius Henderson, Summer Carpenter and Steve Erwin.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schmitt moves into the clinch successfully.
Chase pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Chase takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Chase moves away from the strike by Schmitt. Chase was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Schmitt cracks Chase with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Chase throws a series of punches but Schmitt avoids them all with ease. It seemed like Schmitt was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Schmitt tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Chase throwing a counter right hand but Schmitt manages to avoid it. Schmitt tries a head kick but it misses.
Schmitt throws a body punch but Chase moves out of range. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Schmitt lands a really nice looking cross but Chase seems unphased.
Schmitt darts in and clinches Chase up against the cage. Schmitt's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Schmitt working some nice short punches in the clinch.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Schmitt lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Schmitt trying to land knees to the body.
Chase wants to break the clinch but can't.
Schmitt misses with some punches.
Schmitt misses with the head strike.
Chase breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Schmitt throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. A quick step to the side and Chase tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect. Schmitt's jab looks to have found its range, popping Chase under the eye. Matthias Schmitt seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Chase tries to keep at a distance but Schmitt has taken the fight into the clinch. Schmitt leaning against his opponent.
Chase is trying to break the clinch but Schmitt has him pressed against the cage. Chase tries to circle away but Schmitt has him pinned against the cage. Chase looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. Chase wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Schmitt manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Schmitt stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Chase's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Chase tries to keep at a distance but Schmitt has taken the fight into the clinch. Chase blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
The referee is keeping an eye on Schmitt - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Chase breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Schmitt throws a left and a right that both miss
and Chase counters with a nice uppercut. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Schmitt throws a looping overhand right but Chase ducks down to avoid it.

Schmitt tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Chase's elbow.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Chase blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Chase pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Schmitt swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Schmitt scores with a jab to the head.
Schmitt uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Chase throws a looping overhand right but Schmitt ducks down to avoid it. Schmitt closes the distance looking to clinch and Schmitt takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. A slow jab from Schmitt misses its intended target. Chase swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Schmitt smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Schmitt takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Schmitt misses with a combination
and Chase counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. We've been informed that Schmitt has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Schmitt might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Schmitt lands an overhand right. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Schmitt takes a swing at Chase's ribcage but misses. It looked like Chase wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. A decent looking cross lands there for Schmitt. Chase throws a shot from downtown. Schmitt moves away and avoids it. Schmitt throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
An attempted straight right counter from Chase misses the target. Schmitt tries to land a front kick but Chase steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. A quick step to the side and Chase tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect. A jab from Chase misses. Schmitt is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Chase with a body shot. Schmitt clobbers Chase with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Matthias Schmitt dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.
Schmitt smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Chase tries to keep at a distance but Schmitt has taken the fight into the clinch. Chase looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Chase throws a jab when Schmitt was well out of range. Chase rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Schmitt counters with a stiff right hand. Schmitt tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Chase counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Schmitt throws a push kick but Chase slaps the foot to one side. Nice uppercut there from Schmitt.
 That's one minute gone in the round.
Schmitt has managed to clinch.
Schmitt misses with a body punch.
Chase has had enough of the clinch but Schmitt keeps him there for the moment.

Schmitt lands a two punch combo.
Chase slips a jab from Schmitt. Schmitt cracks Chase with a right hand to the side of the head. Schmitt has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Schmitt throws a jab but it's blocked by Chase. Chase swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Schmitt scores with a nice strike.
 Chase is rocked! Chase has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Schmitt finds it's way round the side to connect with Chase's head. Oh Chase is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Today's fight clock is brought to you by... OOOH that's a huge shot by Schmitt! Chase is in big trouble here - the ref steps in to save him and this one is all over!
