Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Edgar John (ranked 2773 p4p, 2978 weight class) and zOe gOld (ranked 331 p4p, 355 weight class). zOe gOld told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Edgar John!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, zOe gOld!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Cecil Peabody and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some wild striking there from John.
John throws a looping overhand right but gOld ducks down to avoid it.
John falls off balance throwing a combination
and gOld counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
gOld gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
John tries to land a knee to the head but gOld blocks with his arms.
gOld is trying to pull guard but John has him pressed against the cage.
gOld scores with a hook to the body.
gOld swings away with an uppercut that misses.
gOld keeps control of John as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
John manages to break the clinch.
John misses with a combination
and gOld counters with a lovely straight right hand!
gOld looks to throw the jab but John is out of range.
John swings for the body but gOld moves out of range.

John slips under a jab.
John throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
John blocks a jab.
gOld throws a hook to the side of John's head but John sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
John throws a combination but it was largely blocked by gOld.
It seemed like gOld was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
gOld cracks John with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
gOld lands a jab to the nose.
John swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and gOld cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Nice straight punches there by gOld. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of gOld.
John misses with a shot to the body
and gOld counters with a nice uppercut.
John stalks gOld and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into gOld's face. gOld staggers backwards, shaken.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
John throws a body punch but gOld moves out of range.
John throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and gOld counters with a nice uppercut.
gOld slips under a jab.
John misses with a combination
and gOld counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
John misses with a shot to the body
and gOld counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
John is looking to wear down gOld with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round.

gOld takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
John misses with a body punch
and gOld cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
John misses with a left hand
and gOld holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
John tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
A short uppercut from gOld.
gOld slowing the pace effectively.
A short right hand to the side of the head by gOld.
gOld swings away with an uppercut that misses.
gOld prevents John from breaking the clinch.
gOld lands with a short shot to the head.
gOld manages to pull guard.

John got a little sloppy there for a moment and gOld has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, John has managed to get both his arms back between gOld's legs - danger averted.
gOld wants to control the position but John says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
gOld is looking to improve his position.
We've been informed that gOld has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
gOld is pressing down on John's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
gOld pulls John in close to prevent any damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
gOld had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. John defends it easily.
gOld not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
gOld looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
zOe gOld dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
gOld drops his hands momentarily and John takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
John swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
gOld has closed the distance and engaged John in a clinch.
John with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
gOld lands a left hand.
gOld lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of John backwards.
gOld tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
John misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from gOld.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
gOld breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
A punch combination from John misses.
John walks into a straight right hand from gOld.
zOe gOld seems to be getting the better of the standup.
John lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but gOld circles away quickly and effectively.
gOld tries to counter with a clinch but John shakes him off and moves away.
gOld tries to clinch up but John circles away and keeps his distance.
This has been an exciting period of action!
John lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
That's one minute gone in the round.
John throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
gOld might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
John blocks a jab.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts gOld, as that shot connected.
John connects with a body shot that sends gOld's belly button to the back.
John misses with a combination
and gOld counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by gOld.
A short right from gOld.
gOld keeps the fight in the clinch, despite John's efforts to push away.
John blocks an uppercut.
John using the Thai plumb to throw knees but gOld has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
gOld has a couple of punches blocked by John.
gOld working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.

John misses with some punches.
gOld lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
John is trying to force a seperation but gOld has the dominant position.
John breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
gOld lands a really nice looking cross but John seems unphased.
John fakes high and swings low for a body shot but gOld manages to avoid it.
gOld throws a hook but John blocks it.
John misses with a right hand
and gOld counters with a lovely straight right hand!
John defending well as gOld loads up on a big left hand.
gOld has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
John jabs gOld right on the nose. gOld blinks but takes it well.
John misses with a shot to the body
and gOld connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
gOld throws a lazy right hand but John sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
gOld uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by John.
John swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and gOld counters with a left and a right that stings John.
John throws an ugly left hook that misses
and gOld counters with a nice uppercut.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
gOld misses with a straight right.
Edgar John seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
gOld uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by John.
John takes one to the side of the head.
gOld lunges at John with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by John's hand.
John is rocked!
gOld lands an uppercut, right on the button! John tumbles backwards into the cage, staring vacantly into space! He's got no idea where he is, who he is or what day it is... Poor guy.
