Khan moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Olivera pushes Khan away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Khan gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Olivera is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Khan working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Khan is staying tight to Olivera's torso, preventing him from escaping. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Khan tries for a kimura but Olivera is defending well.
Khan tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Khan has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
That's one minute gone in the round.
Khan is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Olivera is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Khan prevents Olivera from escaping the position. Olivera bucks up and tries to throw Khan off but instead Khan has got his back! Khan lands a shot to the head. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Olivera showing good submission defense here.
Olivera is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Khan is cranking Olivera's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Olivera! He's tightened the choke and Olivera is tapping out!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Jaysun Khan!
