With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Charles Alvarez!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Vladimir Khabensky and Fedor Mirinova.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beckley throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Alvarez's waist but Alvarez gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Beckley off to one side.
Alvarez looks like he wants to counter punch here.

Beckley is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Beckley wants to lay and pray for a moment but Alvarez keeps working.
Beckley is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Alvarez is just riding it out for now. Beckley eventually gives up the hold.

Alvarez is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Beckley is controlling him well.
