This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the bantamweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Rio de Janeiro, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 3 losses; Robinho Junior! And in the blue corner, fighting out of London, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 2 losses; Smalliver Twist! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Alan Glass and Stewart Dunkirk.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Twist shoots for a takedown but Junior saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Junior half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Twist looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Horrible takedown attempt by Twist or perhaps it was just good defense by Junior, which made it look bad. Junior feinted with a counter takedown. Robinho Junior has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Smalliver Twist. Twist shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Junior pinned against the cage. Junior gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Junior half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Twist shoots in looking for a takedown but Junior manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Twist's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Twist is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Twist trying to control but Junior is working from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Twist is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
 That's six minutes gone in the round. Junior controlling the position. Twist trying to control the position from guard on top but Junior is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Twist trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Junior keeping moving, preventing Twist from controlling successfully.
 That's seven minutes gone in the round. Twist passes into half guard. Twist prevents Junior from improving his position. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Twist wants to free his trapped foot but Junior is holding on for dear life with his legs. Twist is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Junior reverses the position - he's now on top in Twist's guard. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Junior (4) vs (2) Twist Junior advances to half guard.
 That's eight minutes gone in the round. Junior controlling the action here. Junior frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Score +3 for passing guard: Junior (7) vs (2) Twist Junior tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Twist can't escape the position.

 That's nine minutes gone in the round. Junior has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Junior seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Twist is holding on tight.

 That's ten minutes gone in the round. Junior wants to take Twist's back but he can't do it this time. Twist wants to control but Junior is having none of it. Junior is trying to take his opponent's back.
Twist is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

 That's eleven minutes gone in the round. Junior is looking to work his way around to Twist's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position. Junior controlling the position easily from mount.
 That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Twist is looking to improve his position but Junior isn't that keen on the idea. Junior mounts Twist! Really nice guard pass there! Junior tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Twist regains half guard. Twist wants to get back to full guard.
 That's thirteen minutes gone in the round.
Junior wants to work for an arm triangle but Twist is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Junior controlling the action here. Twist is trying to maintain the position but Junior is very close to passing his half guard. Junior stalling. Twist trying to hold on to Junior's head to control him but Junior postures up.
 That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Twist keeping hold of Junior's head, controlling as best he can. Twist moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Twist trying to keep a closed guard but Junior is proving a slippery customer.
Junior controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Twist looking to hit a scissor sweep but Junior is one step ahead there.
And that's the end of the fight! Junior takes the fight on points by 7 to 2. A relieved looking Robinho Junior thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it. Smalliver Twist was interviewed post fight and said 'Please Sir, can I have some more?'. |
