Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Antonio Aldo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andreas Andreas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Andreas is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Leila k - Electric. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Andreas Andreas was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Antonio Aldo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Andreas Andreas!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Mauricio Rocha and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Andreas drives through with a takedown into guard.
Aldo controls Andreas momentarily but Andreas frees himself.
Andreas landing some decent shots from guard.
Andreas thows a big elbow that misses.

Aldo had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Andreas is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Aldo Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Andreas's back instead.

Aldo doesn't have the hooks in and Andreas manages to turn into his guard.

Andreas is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Aldo is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Aldo has escaped and now he's on top!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Aldo stands up over Andreas, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Andreas uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Aldo.
Aldo shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Andreas pinned against the cage. Andreas gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Aldo thows a left - swing and a miss!

Andreas has closed the distance and engaged Aldo in a clinch.

Aldo has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Andreas clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Aldo punches the canvas rather than the man.
Andreas breaks Aldo's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Andreas drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Andreas jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Aldo is breathing heavily.
Andreas passes Aldo's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Andreas is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Aldo defends it well.

Andreas is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Andreas is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Andreas is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Aldo sees it coming and defends easily.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Aldo keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Andreas trying to advance position but Aldo counters by regaining guard.
Andreas throws a big right hand that misses.
Andreas stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Aldo swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Aldo misses with a jab, cross combination.
A punch combination from Aldo misses.
Antonio Aldo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Andreas shoots for a takedown but Aldo saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Aldo lands with a nice combination. Andreas backs away looking to recover.
Aldo goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Antonio Aldo will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Aldo throws a right hand that Andreas ducks under and follows up with a left that Andreas also avoids with ease.
Jab, jab by Aldo - just one landing.
No joy there for Aldo, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Aldo shoots in and drives through. Andreas sprawls well.
Andreas shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Aldo as he jumps to the side.

Andreas pulls guard effortlessly.

Andreas looking for a guillotine here but Aldo defends easily.
Andreas wants to sweep but no luck.
Aldo distracts Andreas with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Andreas is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Aldo is aware though and is defending well.

Aldo landing some decent shots from guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Aldo lands a couple of digs.

Andreas is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Aldo throws and elbow that misses. Andreas uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Aldo's guard. Nice move by Andreas!

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Andreas postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Aldo is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Andreas, into his guard.

Aldo got a little sloppy there for a moment and Andreas has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Aldo has managed to get both his arms back between Andreas's legs - danger averted.

Andreas is looking for a triangle but Aldo pushes his legs off easily.
Aldo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Andreas swivels though and keeps the full guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Andreas connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Aldo drops down looking for an ankle pick but Andreas pulls his leg out and moves away.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Aldo swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Aldo will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Andreas stands and throws Aldo's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Andreas goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Aldo has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Andreas but great work by Aldo.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Andreas gets back to half guard.

Aldo wants to work for an arm triangle but Andreas is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Andreas is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Aldo scores with a couple of nice shots.
Aldo not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Andreas is defending against the submission attempts here by Aldo.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Aldo connects with a nice short shot to Andreas's temple.
Andreas manages to get to full guard.

I would just about give that final round to Andreas Andreas.
I think Andreas has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
