Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between James sweeny (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and karl morph (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Chris Edwards and Colin Fotheringham.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
sweeny is looking to clinch but morph is avoiding it.
morph feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
morph looking to pass the guard.
morph is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
morph trying to control the position from guard on top but sweeny is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
sweeny will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
morph is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and sweeny defends it well.

morph jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… sweeny is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by sweeny and morph has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
morph swings around for an armbar but sweeny sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into morph's guard.

morph is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but sweeny pulls his head out easily.
morph wants to control the action here but instead sweeny manages to pass to full mount!

morph is squirming around, avoiding sweeny's attempts to control the action.

That's time! sweeny's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

sweeny lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of morph backwards.
morph goes for a takedown in the clinch but sweeny prevents it.

sweeny drives through and clinches with morph against the cage.
sweeny's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
morph shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. sweeny defends it nicely.
sweeny lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
morph tries to keep at a distance but sweeny has taken the fight into the clinch.

A quick uppercut on the inside from sweeny.
sweeny's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
morph fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but sweeny avoids it really well and circles away.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
sweeny keeps morph at a distance using the push kick.

morph tries to score a power double leg takedown but sweeny sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten morph somewhat.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

sweeny stuffs the takedown attempt from morph. morph gets slowly back to his feet.

Horrible takedown by morph or perhaps it was just good defense by sweeny which made him look bad.
James sweeny has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of karl morph.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to James sweeny.
I think sweeny has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
