PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bird Eye (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Rob (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Eye comes to the cage accompanied by Fed Up. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bird Eye!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mike Rob!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Aafke Stam and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Eye leaves Rob with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Rob looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Eye is fending him off so far but Rob persists. Nope, Eye circles away and we're back to standing.
Eye tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Rob paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Rob rushes Eye and presses him up against the cage.
Rob looks gassed!
Eye prevents Rob from breaking the clinch.
Eye lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Eye softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.

Eye gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Eye is working for an americana but Rob has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Eye was thinking about the submission.
Eye is looking to work some ground and pound but Rob has wrist control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Eye is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Rob preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Eye landing some decent shots from guard.
Rob keeping moving, preventing Eye from controlling successfully.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Eye is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Rob is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rob throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Eye stands up over Rob, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Eye won't allow Rob to sweep him here.
Eye trying to control but Rob is working from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rob wants to get back to his feet but Eye is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Eye is in close to Rob's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Rob isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Eye stacks Rob on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Eye!
Eye works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Eye thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Rob is trying to control Eye's posture but Eye avoids it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Rob tries to improve position but can't.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bird Eye dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!



Eye darts in and clinches Rob up against the cage.
Eye drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Rob gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Rob is trying to maintain a safe position but Eye gets an underhook and turns Rob into the cage.
Eye can't get the takedown.
Rob has Eye pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Eye manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Eye pulls guard successfully.
Eye throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Eye lands a good elbow from the bottom.
Eye really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Eye looking to hit a scissor sweep but Rob is one step ahead there.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Eye throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Rob trying to control but Eye is working from the bottom.
Rob wants to get up but he can't break Eye's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Rob throwing strikes from guard but Eye blocks nicely.
Eye is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Eye tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Rob counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Eye!
Eye throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.
Eye wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Rob.
Eye is wriggling around trying to escape.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rob in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Rob tries to control but Eye wriggling away.
Eye wants to hold on but Rob pushes him away.
Eye sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Eye is refusing to be controlled, as Rob sits in half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Rob stands up and beckons Eye to join him on the feet.
Rob changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Eye tries to avoid it but Rob manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Eye to the ground. Eye escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Eye has taken the fight to the clinch.
Rob tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Eye just stands there and leans against the cage.
Bird Eye has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mike Rob.
Rob fails to pull guard.
Rob tries to break free but Eye pushes him back against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mike Rob showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Eye tries to clinch up but Rob circles away and keeps his distance.
Rob misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Eye shoots in but no luck this time.
Rob tries to clinch up but Eye circles away and keeps his distance.
Rob doesn't manage to clinch there - Eye circles away.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Eye tries to close the distance and clinch but Rob swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Rob fails with a takedown attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Eye ducks under a wild hook from Rob.
Bird Eye is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Eye is looking to clinch.
Eye tries to clinch but Rob is having none of it.
Rob tries for a takedown but Eye circles away easily

and Eye moves into the clinch.
Bird Eye has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mike Rob.
Eye drops down looking for an ankle pick but Rob pulls his leg out and moves away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Rob has his takedown stuffed

and Eye counters by clinching up.

Eye lands a takedown into guard.
Eye working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Rob is looking to sweep but instead, Eye has passed into half guard.
Rob is trying to control but can't.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Eye holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Eye changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Rob fights it off and pushes away nicely.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Rob.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Rob shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

And that's the end of the fight!
Bird Eye showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Eye has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
