PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rex Richards (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Another Guy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Guy has chosen Do You Really Want to Hurt Me as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Another Guy!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Chris Edwards and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Richards cracks Guy with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Guy looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Richards finish him?


It looks like Another Guy has been cut.
Guy shoots in for a takedown but Richards shows good takedown defense.

Guy shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Guy showed some decent athleticism there.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Guy swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Richards is now in Guy's guard. A big mistake from Guy there, giving up the dominant position!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Guy changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Richards looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Guy postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Richards is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Guy, into his guard.

Richards is pushing down on Guy's leg trying to pass to half guard. Guy is fighting to maintain full guard but Richards has managed to sneak the leg through.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Richards throws a nice looking combination but Guy bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Guy looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Richards is looking for a triangle but Guy pushes his legs off easily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Richards bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Guy's guard.

Rex Richards has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Another Guy.
Richards takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Richards gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Guy to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Richards pushes Guy off and scrambles back to his feet.

Richards smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
A jab from Richards finds it's way through Guy's defenses.

and Richards connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Guy moves out of range as Richards strikes.
Richards works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Richards throws a nice inside leg kick.

Guy shoots in and bounces Richards off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Richards has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Guy should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Richards has tightened it up now! Guy should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
