PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tom Fritz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mario Soprano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fritz comes to the cage accompanied by Metallica - Enter Sandman . Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Tom Fritz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mario Soprano!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Radbod Blank and Paul Aken.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fritz blocks a head kick by Soprano.
Soprano wants to clinch.
Soprano tries to clinch but Fritz is having none of it.

Soprano moves into range and clinches up with Fritz.

Fritz breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Fritz changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Soprano tries to avoid it but Fritz manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Soprano to the ground. Soprano escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Soprano throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
The fight stays on the outside here - Soprano looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Fritz checks a leg kick.
Soprano wants to clinch up but Fritz keeps it at a distance.
No joy there for Soprano, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Fritz swats away the attempt to clinch by Soprano.
Mario Soprano seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Soprano closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Fritz to the mat! Fritz manages to get full guard.

Fritz is looking to sinch up a triangle. Soprano throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Fritz's body to avoid the submission. Fritz has instead reached around Soprano's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Fritz arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Tom Fritz!
