Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Andrew Micozzi! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Zacky Stevenson! The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Richard Clark and Sam Margolis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The fight stays on the outside here - Micozzi looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Micozzi darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Micozzi looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Micozzi slips a nice elbow through Stevenson's hands, connecting with Stevenson's forehead. Ground and pound from Micozzi. Stevenson is looking to improve his position.
Micozzi trying to control from half guard but Stevenson is working away. Micozzi throwing shots but Stevenson is blocking nicely. Stevenson is pressing down on Micozzi's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Micozzi is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Stevenson is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Stevenson has escaped and now he's on top!
That's one minute gone in the round. Micozzi looking to hit a scissor sweep but Stevenson is one step ahead there. Stevenson wanted to stand there but Micozzi had control of the position. Micozzi has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Stevenson is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Micozzi. Stevenson has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Stevenson throws a series of punches but Micozzi moves out of range.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Stevenson thows a body shot but no joy. Micozzi ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Stevenson looks to land a right hand but Micozzi moved out of range. Stevenson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Micozzi circles away quickly and effectively. Stevenson misses with a hook. Micozzi ducked under it nicely. Micozzi feints and as Stevenson raises his hands in defense, Micozzi changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Micozzi prevents Stevenson from getting back to his feet. Micozzi working some strikes from top position. Stevenson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Micozzi has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Stevenson is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Micozzi with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Micozzi thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Stevenson wants to sweep but no luck. Stevenson looks gassed! Micozzi forces his way into half guard. Micozzi slows the pace down in half guard. Micozzi trying to control the action but Stevenson is working from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Micozzi is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Stevenson is just riding it out for now. Micozzi eventually gives up the hold. Micozzi stalling away here and it's allowed Stevenson to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Stevenson wants to sweep here but Micozzi controlling him for the moment. Micozzi trying to control but Stevenson is working from the bottom.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Stevenson uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Micozzi.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Andrew Micozzi dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Stevenson connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Stevenson swinging wilding here.

and Micozzi counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Stevenson's guard now. Micozzi working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Stevenson looking for subs off his back but Micozzi has passed one foot through into half guard.
Micozzi looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That's one minute gone in the round. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Micozzi lands a nice short elbow. Micozzi lands strikes from half guard. Micozzi is looking to take a break and control but Stevenson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Micozzi is looking for a kimura but Stevenson is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Micozzi to get the leverage. Micozzi is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Stevenson! Micozzi sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Micozzi moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Stevenson has worked his arm free - good work by Stevenson!

Stevenson is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Micozzi's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Micozzi wants to control but Stevenson is keeping him busy. Stevenson makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Stevenson. Stevenson wants to sweep but no luck.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Stevenson looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Micozzi's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Micozzi lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Stevenson can't keep his opponent in guard - Micozzi advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Stevenson wants to get back to full guard. Micozzi scoring with strikes to the body and head. Andrew Micozzi overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Micozzi moves into full mount! Stevenson won't be happy about that! Micozzi pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Micozzi prevents Stevenson from getting the reversal. A nice elbow there by Micozzi.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Micozzi lands with some strikes. Micozzi lands a big shot there that rocks Stevenson but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Micozzi postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Stevenson looks a forlorn figure.
Micozzi is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Stevenson has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Micozzi lands a big shot there that rocks Stevenson but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Micozzi works over Stevenson with some ground and pound from guard. Stevenson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Stevenson wants to sweep but no luck. Micozzi passes easily into side control. Nice work. Micozzi is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Stevenson's shoulder. That is not cool. Micozzi scoring with punches from side control. Micozzi landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Micozzi is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Stevenson is trying to escape and Micozzi transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Stevenson is forced to tap! Nice work there by Micozzi! Very nice indeed!
