Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jake Roberts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Teddy Ferguson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Roberts's entrance music is Ghosts of the Undead. A fine choice. Teddy Ferguson has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jake Roberts!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Teddy Ferguson!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Yves DeLean and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ferguson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Roberts's waist but Roberts gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ferguson off to one side.

Ferguson moves into the clinch successfully.

Ferguson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Ferguson pushes Roberts up against the cage in a clinch.
Roberts connects with a knee to the head.
Ferguson is leaning against Roberts and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Roberts gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Ferguson.

Ferguson has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Roberts clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Ferguson goes for a risky armbar from back mount and it's not paid off. Roberts escapes and is now in half guard on top.

Roberts tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Roberts is landing with some decent strikes but Ferguson is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Ferguson keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Ferguson tries to hold on but Roberts pushes him away.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Roberts with shots to the head and body - Ferguson looks very uncomfortable down there.

Roberts is breathing heavily.
Ferguson is looking to improve his position but Roberts isn't that keen on the idea.

Ferguson sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Roberts wants to control but Ferguson is keeping him busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Roberts stuffs the takedown.
Jake Roberts has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Teddy Ferguson.

Ferguson throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Roberts was covering up waiting for the punch and Ferguson finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Roberts wants to improve his position but Ferguson is controlling well.
Ferguson is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Ferguson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Roberts does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Ferguson tries to pass the half guard into mount. Roberts knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
The fight stays on the outside here - Ferguson looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Ferguson shoots in for a double leg but Roberts sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Roberts throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
No luck for Ferguson with that takedown attempt.
Jake Roberts has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Teddy Ferguson.
Roberts wants to clinch up but Ferguson keeps it at a distance.

Roberts is squirming around, avoiding Ferguson's attempts to control the action.

Let's hope that Ferguson has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Ferguson jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Roberts is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Roberts and Ferguson has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Teddy Ferguson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ferguson gets control of Roberts's arms and successfully pulls guard. Ferguson will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Ferguson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Roberts's guard.
Ferguson lands a couple of elbows.
Ferguson won't allow Roberts to sweep him here.
Ferguson wants to pass the guard but Roberts is keeping the position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Ferguson slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Roberts takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ferguson decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Nice shot lands for Roberts.

Ferguson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Roberts is not content to let Ferguson control the position.

Ferguson goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Roberts rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Ferguson's guard! Nice work there by Roberts!

Ferguson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Roberts can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Jake Roberts has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Ferguson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Roberts is one step ahead there.
Ferguson looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Roberts puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ferguson can do anything to dispel that myth.
