Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Juan Chavez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Blair (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Chavez misses with a looping right. Blair darts in and clinches Chavez up against the cage. Blair landing some nice looking knees to the body.
Blair throws a knee to the head but misses.
Chavez has Blair pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Blair manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Blair with an attempt at a knee that misses.

Chavez tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Blair smiles and moves away.
Chavez thuds his right hand into Blair's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Chavez fails miserably with a takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Juan Chavez. That's going to take a lot out of him. Blair instigates a clinch. Chavez wants a takedown but no success here.

The fight stays on the outside here - Chavez looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Chavez fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Blair sprawls well initially but Chavez persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Blair really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Chavez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Chavez trying to control from half guard but Blair is working away. Chavez is breathing heavily. Chavez wants to pass to mount but Blair is defending the position. Chavez thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Blair's head. Blair won't allow Chavez to pass to mount. Blair is trying to stand.
Chavez not landing any meaningful shots this time. Blair moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Blair wants to stand but Chavez is controlling the position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Blair is looking to clinch but Chavez is avoiding it.
An inside leg kick lands from Chavez. Chavez ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Blair moves away. Blair scores with a leg kick.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Chavez. Blair has closed the distance and engaged Chavez in a clinch.
Chavez tries to pull guard but Blair holds him up against the cage and eventually Chavez drops back down to his feet.

Blair gets caught flat footed, as Chavez shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Chavez trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Blair keeping moving, preventing Chavez from controlling successfully. Chavez postures up and lands a big shot to Blair's brow.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Chavez throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Blair works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Blair manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Chavez fails with the takedown. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Chavez scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Blair darts in and clinches Chavez up against the cage. Blair gets through Chavez's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Blair looking to throw knees to the head but Chavez is blocking nicely.

Blair working some nice short punches in the clinch. Blair breaks from the clinch.
Chavez shoots in but Blair avoids the takedown attempt easily. Chavez fails with a takedown attempt from distance. The fighters circling - Chavez throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Chavez misses with a looping right. Blair moves into the clinch successfully.
Blair lands a right hand that snaps the head of Chavez backwards. Blair misses with a knee strike.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Chavez drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Blair gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Blair pulls Chavez in close to his closed guard and prevents Chavez from doing any damage or advancing position. Chavez stands and throws Blair's legs to the side, diving into side control. Blair prevents Chavez from moving into mount. Chavez has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Blair is pushing Chavez's head away, looking to escape. Chavez manages to hold on to the position though. Blair parries the strikes from Chavez easily there. Chavez is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Blair to escape.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Chavez tries for a kimura but Blair is defending well. Chavez trying to control the position but Blair is working away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Michael Blair dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Chavez throws the left hand but Blair avoids the punch easily. Chavez misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Blair gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Blair lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

Blair ducks under a wild hook from Chavez. Chavez misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Blair steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Chavez. Chavez tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Blair staying out of range there. Chavez throws a jab when Blair was well out of range. Blair moves in looking to clinch but Chavez pushes him off. Blair staying out of range there. Nice sprawl there from Blair as Chavez shoots in. Chavez darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Chavez scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Chavez prevents Blair from improving his position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Chavez is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Blair is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
