Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tony Jaa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sarah Simpson! The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Dean Styles and Eddie Farnsworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Simpson tries to land a front kick but Jaa steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Simpson looks for the body kick but Jaa saw that one coming. Jaa tries to clinch but Simpson moves out of range. Simpson darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Simpson works his way into full mount! Jaa is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Simpson stands up from mount. Strange move. Jaa thumps Simpson with a low kick. Simpson takes the fight into the clinch. Simpson prevents Jaa from breaking the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Simpson wants a takedown.
Simpson manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Jaa wants to control from the top but Simpson keeps moving. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Simpson is adopting a defensive guard. Jaa wants to control from the top but Simpson keeps moving. Jaa looking to sit in guard and control but Simpson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Simpson preventing the sweep.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Simpson's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Jaa is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Jaa could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Jaa being controlled here, momentarily. Simpson working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Jaa's head. Simpson sitting in guard here, content to control. Simpson looks gassed! The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. I looks like Simpson might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jaa is looking to sweep but instead, Simpson has passed into half guard.
Jaa wants to get back to full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Simpson working over Jaa with some ground and pound. Jaa looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Jaa tries to get to full guard but Simpson has control of the leg. Simpson lands with a punch from half guard. Jaa works his way to full guard. Good work. Simpson makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Jaa looking to hit a scissor sweep but Simpson is one step ahead there. Jaa wants to stand but Simpson is controlling the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Simpson with a flurry of punches that miss. Jaa utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Simpson circles away from the clinch attempt letting Simpson counter with a right hand. Jaa tries to clinch there but Simpson circles away.
Jaa tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Simpson counters with a takedown into side control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Sarah Simpson dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Jaa tries to close the distance and clinch but Simpson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Simpson misses with a kick to the body.
Simpson misses with a double jab.
Simpson tries for a takedown but Jaa sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Jaa tries to clinch up. Jaa tries to clinch up but Simpson circles away and keeps his distance. Tony Jaa is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. A good leg kick by Jaa. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jaa tries to clinch but fails miserably and Simpson counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Jaa's guard now. Jaa wants to get back to his feet but Simpson is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Simpson sitting in guard, not really doing much. Jaa knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Simpson on the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round. Simpson trying to control but Jaa is working from the bottom. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Simpson missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Jaa looking to hit a scissor sweep but Simpson is one step ahead there. Jaa is working hard here to advance position. Jaa being controlled here, momentarily. Simpson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Simpson in side control, just content to control the action for now. Simpson working the body and head with strikes. Jaa is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Simpson is controlling him well. Simpson has an Americana. Jaa didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Simpson is delighted and gyrates infront of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Simpson hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
