Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Buck Richell! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, George Francis and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hicks leaves Richell with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Richell is trying hard to land a takedown here. Hicks sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Richell stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Richell wants it to stay on the feet. Hicks tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Richell with a lazy takedown attempt and Hicks counters with a stiff right hand. Dwayne Hicks has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Buck Richell. Richell shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Hicks staying out of range there. Richell throws a big shot that misses. Richell walks forward, straight into a front kick from Hicks. Richell looks gassed! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Hicks closes the distance and pushes Richell back into the cage. Richell is trying desperately to land a takedown but Hicks is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Richell. Hicks avoiding damage.

Hicks gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Hicks is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Richell really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hicks. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Richell on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Hicks is nestled in close to Richell, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Hicks thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Hicks with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Richell is not content to let Hicks control the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hicks stands up from half guard. Richell throws a looping overhand right but Hicks ducks down to avoid it. Hicks slips a straight right by Richell. Hicks pushes Richell away with a front kick. Hicks lands a body shot.
Hicks shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Richell defends it nicely. Hicks clinches up with Richell and pushes him back against the cage. Hicks with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Hicks escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A shot to the body from Richell misses and Hicks counters with a one-two to the body. Richell swinging wilding here.
Hicks gets in close and instigates a clinch. Hicks lands a nice elbow. Hicks prevents the takedown attempt.

Hicks avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Richell with a flurry of punches that miss. Hicks is pulling down on Richell's head to control his posture. Hicks manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Richell manages to get himself to full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Hicks is taking a breather. Richell says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Hicks scoring with strikes to the body and head. Hicks throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Richell keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Hicks is trying to control the action in half guard but Richell is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Richell is looking to escape. Richell is in trouble now - Hicks has advanced to mount! The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Hicks cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Hicks keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Richell. Hicks throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Richell shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Hicks defends it nicely. Richell throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Hicks lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Hicks. Hicks fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Richell avoids it really well and circles away. Richell lands a jab to Hicks's midsection. Richell moves out of range as Hicks throws a body kick.
Hicks tries to land a front kick but Richell steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Hicks throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Richell misses with a takedown and Hicks counters with a nice body kick. Hicks is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Richell can do to turn this around?
That's one minute gone in the round. Hicks shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Hicks showed some decent athleticism there. Hicks has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Richell can do anything to dispel that myth. Hicks scores with a couple of good head shots there.

Richell tries to lock up and control but Hicks gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Hicks takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Hicks looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.

Hicks content just to control the position here. Richell tries to get back to half guard but can't. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Hicks jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Richell is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Richell and Hicks has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Richell avoids the head kick by Hicks.

Richell misses with a hook. Hicks takes the fight into the clinch. Hicks pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Richell fails with the takedown and Hicks counters with a left and a right that stings Richell. Richell tries to keep at a distance but Hicks has taken the fight into the clinch. Richell prevents the takedown attempt.
Richell has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Hicks avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Hicks lands an elbow just above Richell 's eye. Hicks lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Nice elbow from Hicks. Hicks tries to score a body lock takedown but Richell shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Richell avoids the elbow strike from Hicks, against the cage.
Richell has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Hicks. Hicks stops a takedown attempt from Richell.
