PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between mr T (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Conan BARBARIAN (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
BARBARIAN shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says T as he avoids it easily.
T misses with a low kick.
BARBARIAN ducks right into an uppercut from T.
BARBARIAN slips under a jab.
BARBARIAN blocks a jab.
BARBARIAN dives in and grabs T's left leg, looking for a takedown. T pushes down on BARBARIAN's head and hops out.
BARBARIAN keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
BARBARIAN displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as T throws out the jab.
BARBARIAN has a takedown stuffed.
mr T has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Conan BARBARIAN.
BARBARIAN tries to clinch there but T circles away.
BARBARIAN throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

mr T seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
BARBARIAN moves nicely into side control.

T is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
BARBARIAN working away.

T tries to improve position but can't.
T might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

BARBARIAN has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from BARBARIAN there as he acknowledges the shot.

T scores with a one two! BARBARIAN had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

BARBARIAN tries to roll over but T keeps him under control.

BARBARIAN has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. T is working away from the top position though.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
T is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for BARBARIAN!
BARBARIAN is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
T misses with a head shot.
BARBARIAN tries to control the position but T now has his back.

That's time! T's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

BARBARIAN shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. T manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
T pulls BARBARIAN in close to prevent any damage.

BARBARIAN stands up and waves to T to follow him.
BARBARIAN moves out of range as T strikes.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

T paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
BARBARIAN misses with the combination.
T is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
BARBARIAN throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around T's waist but T gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing BARBARIAN off to one side.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
BARBARIAN goes for a takedown attempt but T pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
T dips to his left and cracks BARBARIAN with an uppercut!

mr T is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Nice takedown defense from T. No joy for BARBARIAN on that attempt.

T throws a sloppy head kick and BARBARIAN moves out of range easily.

BARBARIAN shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with T but T pushes him off and we're back to square one.

T throws a hook but BARBARIAN avoids it easily.

BARBARIAN tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. T just stands there and leans against the cage.

BARBARIAN has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. T avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

T has hold of one of BARBARIAN's legs. BARBARIAN is fighting the takedown attempt but T gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

BARBARIAN shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as T sprawls well. T wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. BARBARIAN gets slowly back to his feet.
T tries to close the distance and clinch up but BARBARIAN swats him away and circles back towards the center.

T slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

BARBARIAN really doesn't want to stay on the ground with T. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
T won't allow BARBARIAN to sweep him here.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

T's corner calls for a 1-2. T obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

T sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

BARBARIAN tries for a takedown but T manages to get underhooks.
T wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

BARBARIAN shoots for a double leg takedown but T sprawls well. He's pushed BARBARIAN's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
BARBARIAN is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

T tries to clinch up but BARBARIAN circles away and keeps his distance.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
T throws a jab when BARBARIAN was well out of range.
T shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
BARBARIAN tries to score a power double leg takedown but T sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten BARBARIAN somewhat.

T manages to regain half guard. Good work.
BARBARIAN wants to free his trapped foot but T is holding on for dear life with his legs.
T wants to control but BARBARIAN is keeping busy.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
BARBARIAN stalling away here and it's allowed T to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
T wants to stand and escape but BARBARIAN is having none of it.
BARBARIAN looking to sit in guard and control but T gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
BARBARIAN lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for T!
Conan BARBARIAN has got the better of the ground game so far.
BARBARIAN is landing with some decent strikes but T is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to mr T.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for T, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
