PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Danny Frost (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Ritter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Danny Frost!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Daniel Ritter!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Wesley Smith and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Frost fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Ritter sprawls well initially but Frost persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Frost is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Ritter has managed to free his arm - good work.
Ritter gets back to full guard.
Frost pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Ritter is keeping the position for now.

Frost avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Ritter tries to strike from the bottom.
Ritter throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Ritter trying to keep a closed guard but Frost is proving a slippery customer.

Ritter is looking for a triangle here but Frost uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Frost looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Ritter can't do much from the bottom here.

Frost goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Ritter rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Frost's guard! Nice work there by Ritter!

Frost is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Ritter defends well.

Ritter postures up in Frost's guard and throws a big left but Frost blocks it.

Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Frost manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Ritter manages to get himself to full guard.
Ritter is trying to keep Frost in close.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ritter can do anything to dispel that myth.
Ritter throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Frost wants to control from the top but Ritter keeps moving.

Ritter is looking for a triangle but Frost pushes his legs off easily.

That's time! Frost's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Ritter shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Frost tries to lock up and control but Ritter gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Frost is looking to get to half guard.
Ritter lands a big shot there that rocks Frost but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Frost regains half guard.
Ritter lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Frost is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Ritter's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Ritter's back!

Frost has control of Ritter's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Ritter regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Ritter is wriggling around trying to escape.

Frost is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Ritter can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Frost slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Frost is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Ritter has escaped the position, nice work there.
Ritter really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Frost. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Ritter is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Frost is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Ritter!
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Ritter is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Frost sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.

so Frost counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Ritter keeping moving, preventing Frost from controlling successfully.
Ritter is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Frost passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Frost tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Frost has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Ritter wants to control but Frost postures up.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Frost is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Ritter knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Frost is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Ritter is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Ritter got a little sloppy there for a moment and Frost has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Ritter has managed to get both his arms back between Frost's legs - danger averted.

Frost with a poor takedown

and Ritter decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Frost's guard.

Ritter looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Frost with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Daniel Ritter comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Ritter has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
