Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jason Hardy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Long (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hardy comes into the arena with DJ Tiesto - Power Mix blaring out of the sound system. The key to victory for Jason Hardy has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jason Hardy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Long!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, William Peck and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Long avoids the head kick by Hardy.
Hardy tries to clinch but Long is having none of it.

Hardy instigates a clinch.

Long tightens his grip and picks Hardy up, before dumping him to the ground. Hardy manages to land in guard.
Long slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Hardy tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Long throws a big right hand that misses.
Long trying to control the position from guard on top but Hardy is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Long wants to pass the guard but Hardy is keeping the position.
Long slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Hardy can't keep his opponent in guard - Long advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Long thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Long scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Hardy to see if he's OK.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Long slips a nice elbow through Hardy's hands, connecting with Hardy's forehead.

Hardy wants to stand but Long is controlling the position.

Long trying to control but Hardy is working from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Despite being in the dominant position, John Long just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Hardy tries to score with a low kick but Long moves his leg out of the way.

Hardy is in trouble now - Long has advanced to mount!

Long is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Hardy has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Long sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Long lands a big elbow.

Long is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Hardy has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Hardy!
Hardy is looking to stand up but Long won't let him.
Long has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Hardy is tying to control. Long wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Hardy tries to bum rush Long with a series of wild strikes but Long uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Long is pressing down on Hardy's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Long manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Hardy manages to get himself to full guard.

Long wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hardy keeps working.
Hardy takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Hardy prevents Long from moving into mount.
Long landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Hardy pushes Long away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Long gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

John Long showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Long drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Hardy keeping full guard, as Long tries to pass.
Hardy is looking to stand up but Long isn't so interested in that idea.

Long is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Long changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hardy looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Long wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Hardy, who protects the arm well.

Hardy sneaks out the side door and pushes Long away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Hardy looks to clinch

and Long counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Hardy!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Long is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Hardy has his hands clasped together but Long extends an breaks Hardy's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Long.
