PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Boston Russell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cory Scott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Russell is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. The key to victory for Boston Russell has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cory Scott!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Stewart Dunkirk and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Russell shoots in but Scott avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Russell is breathing heavily.
Scott slow jab from Russell misses its intended target.
Russell throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Scott.
Scott tries to clinch but Russell moves out of range.
Scott throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

and Scott counters with a takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Scott advances to mount.
Scott takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Russell is trying to stand but he's just given Scott his back.
Russell is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
Scott has the hooks in. Russell is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Russell trying to control the action but Scott just sinks the hooks in.
Russell is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
Scott's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Let's hope that Scott has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Despite being in the dominant position, Cory Scott just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Scott shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Russell pinned against the cage. Russell gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

You can see the frustration on Russell's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Scott is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
Russell tries to escape but Scott has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Scott wants to sweep but no luck.
Scott has Russell pulled in close to control his posture.

Scott stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Russell swivels though and keeps the full guard.
