PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ragnar Vedhult (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Petr Vondrachek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vedhult comes to the cage accompanied by Swedish army orchestra - Beneath our banner. Petr Vondrachek has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ragnar Vedhult!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Petr Vondrachek!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Dmitry Maklakov and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vedhult shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Vondrachek defends it nicely.
Vondrachek throws a jab but it's blocked by Vedhult.
Vedhult tries to clinch but Vondrachek moves out of range.
Vondrachek lands a nice hook to Vedhult's body. Vedhult takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Vondrachek takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Vondrachek tries to keep at a distance but Vedhult has taken the fight into the clinch.
Vedhult tries to pull guard but Vondrachek won't allow it.

Vedhult jumps into guard, dragging Vondrachek to the mat.

Vedhult postures up in Vondrachek's guard and throws a big left but Vondrachek blocks it.
Vondrachek bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Vedhult's guard.
Vondrachek slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Vondrachek must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Vedhult shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Vondrachek sprawls well. Vondrachek wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Vedhult gets slowly back to his feet.

That was a close round but I would say that Ragnar Vedhult will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Vedhult feints and as Vondrachek raises his hands in defense, Vedhult changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Vedhult had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Vondrachek is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Vedhult Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Vondrachek's back instead.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Vedhult will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
