PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jay Marquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rami Stereo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Marquez's entrance music is face the pain. A fine choice. Rami Stereo is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jay Marquez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rami Stereo!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Robert Twigg and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Stereo feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Stereo looking to pass the guard.
Stereo trying to control but Marquez is working from the bottom.
Marquez bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Stereo's guard.
Stereo pulls Marquez in close to his closed guard and prevents Marquez from doing any damage or advancing position.
Stereo looking for a sweep. Not yet Stereo, not yet.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Stereo can do anything to dispel that myth.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Stereo is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Marquez looking to sit in guard and control but Stereo gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Marquez keeping full guard, as Stereo tries to pass.
Stereo postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Stereo scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Marquez keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Marquez wants to improve his position but Stereo is controlling well.
Stereo is nestled in close to Marquez, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Stereo wants to pass to mount but Marquez is defending the position.
Stereo drops an elbow to the side of Marquez's head.
Stereo prevents Marquez from standing back up.
Stereo working Marquez over with strikes.
Stereo looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Marquez with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Stereo is nestled in close to Marquez, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Stereo connects with a nice short shot to Marquez's temple.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Stereo thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Marquez's head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Stereo wants to lay and pray for a moment but Marquez keeps working.
Stereo passes to side control.
Marquez is working to avoid the ground and pound but Stereo connects with a decent elbow.
Marquez takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Marquez is trying to control Stereo's posture but Stereo avoids it.
Stereo lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Stereo looks up at the clock and then as Marquez takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Stereo smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Marquez is working to avoid the ground and pound but Stereo connects with a decent elbow.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Marquez sneaks out the side door and pushes Stereo away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Stereo throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Marquez's waist but Marquez gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Stereo off to one side.

Stereo is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Marquez's half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Stereo working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Stereo is nestled in close to Marquez, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Stereo throwing shots but Marquez is blocking nicely.
Marquez wants to get back to full guard but Stereo has passed into side control.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rami Stereo dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Stereo shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Stereo controlling the position easily from mount.
Stereo has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Marquez's face.


Marquez is rocked!
Stereo is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Marquez can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Stereo drops a big elbow. That's hurt Marquez! More shots from Stereo and the ref steps in! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:48 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rami Stereo!
