Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Shinji Nishimura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Patterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Patterson has chosen House of the rising sun as his entrance music. Michael Patterson has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Shinji Nishimura's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Shinji Nishimura!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Michael Patterson!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, James Glass and Daniel Bishop.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nishimura looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Patterson is fending him off so far but Nishimura persists. Nope, Patterson circles away and we're back to standing.
Horrible takedown by Patterson or perhaps it was just good defense by Nishimura which made him look bad.
Nishimura has his takedown stuffed
and Patterson counters with a shoot takedown. Nishimura fights it but they end up in guard.
Patterson won't allow Nishimura to get back to his feet.
Patterson trying to control the position from guard on top but Nishimura is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Patterson drops back looking for a leg! Nishimura is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Nishimura manages to kick Patterson off! Patterson jumps back into Nishimura's guard.
Patterson has gone for a leg lock! Nishimura slips out almost immediately though and dives into Patterson's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nishimura throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Patterson is looking for a triangle but Nishimura pushes his legs off easily.

Patterson had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Nishimura is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Patterson Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Nishimura's back instead.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
I really don't envy Nishimura right now.
Patterson is looking for a choke. Nishimura gets to his feet with his opponent on his back and slams him to the mat. Nishimura manages to squirm out of the attempted choke and turns into his opponent's guard.
Patterson looks gassed!

Nishimura is working hard here to advance position.
Nishimura might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Patterson has an active guard here but Nishimura has managed to pass into half guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Nishimura works his way into full mount!

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Nishimura scoring with strikes but Patterson is staying in there.
Nishimura wants to control the pace but Patterson is squirming around nicely.
Nishimura working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Nishimura looking to finish Patterson with some ground and pound. This is bad for Patterson!
Nishimura with shots to the head and body - Patterson looks very uncomfortable down there.
Patterson tries to reverse the position but Nishimura maintains control.
Nishimura looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Nishimura is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Patterson can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Patterson manages to regain half guard. Good work.

Nishimura looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Patterson moves into full guard.
Nishimura looking to pass the guard.
Nishimura could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Patterson working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Nishimura.
Patterson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Nishimura wants to control from the top but Patterson keeps moving.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Nishimura drops back, looking for a kneebar! Patterson looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Patterson looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Patterson!
Patterson goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Nishimura rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Patterson's guard! Nice work there by Nishimura!
Patterson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Nishimura can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Nishimura sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Patterson's guard.
Nishimura lands strikes from half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Shinji Nishimura will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action!
Patterson misses with a takedown attempt
and Nishimura counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Nishimura throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Patterson is looking to regain full guard. He's left an arm up in the air though and Nishimura has latched onto it... Big trouble! Nishimura pivots for an armbar - it's in tight and it Patterson is tapping in no time flat! Great counter grappling there from Nishimura!
