Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Bill Crosly!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Frank Mir!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Taro Takaoka and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mir moves away from the strike by Crosly.
Crosly swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Crosly misses with a wild combination.
Mir shoots for a double leg takedown but Crosly sprawls well. He's pushed Mir's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Crosly throws the left hand but Mir avoids the punch easily.
Crosly misses with a low kick as Mir jumps back.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mir tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Crosly swivels and escapes.

Mir looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Crosly is fending him off so far but Mir persists. Nope, Crosly circles away and we're back to standing.

and Mir counters with a nice double leg into side control. Crosly won't be happy with that.

The referee asks Mir politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Mir prefers to stall for the moment though.

Crosly wants to control but Mir postures up.

Mir shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Crosly tries to lock up and control but Mir gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Crosly is trying to escape the mount.
Crosly is squirming around, avoiding Mir's attempts to control the action.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Crosly wants to hold on but Mir pushes him away.
Crosly could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Crosly tries to lock up and control but Mir gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Crosly tries to reverse the position but Mir maintains control.

Crosly is looking to improve his position but Mir isn't that keen on the idea.
Mir tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Crosly tries to lock up and control but Mir gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Mir tries to control but Crosly wriggling away.
Crosly is trying to escape the mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frank Mir dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Mir tries to close the distance and clinch up but Crosly swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Mir gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

so Crosly counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Crosly trying to control the position from guard on top but Mir is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Crosly drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Crosly jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Mir manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Crosly wants to hold on but Mir pushes him away.
Crosly throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Mir takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The referee warns Crosly that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Crosly sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Mir is trying to control the action in half guard but Crosly is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Crosly is looking for a sweep. Mir is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Mir wants to lay and pray for a moment but Crosly keeps working.

Crosly working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mir doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mir manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Crosly ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Mir moves away.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Mir. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Mir shoots and misses

and Crosly counters with a takedown into side control.
Crosly creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Mir sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Mir tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Crosly wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Crosly tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Crosly is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Mir is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Mir had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Crosly is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Mir Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Crosly's back instead.
Mir has the hooks in. Crosly is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Crosly looking very determined here, making life difficult for Mir.

Mir is trying to stick to Crosly's back but Crosly is turning into Mir. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Mir's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Crosly.

Mir shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Crosly manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Crosly manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Mir manages to get himself to full guard.

Mir escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Crosly gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Crosly accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Mir wants to sweep here but Crosly controlling him for the moment.
Crosly advances to half guard.
Crosly throwing shots but Mir is blocking nicely.
Crosly not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Crosly seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Bill Crosly overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Crosly throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Mir moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Mir wants to sweep here but Crosly controlling him for the moment.

Mir is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Crosly is aware though and is defending well.
