The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Waul fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Waul misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Serova dodges the punch combination from Waul.

Serova rushes Waul and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Serova works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Serova tries to stand but Waul is controlling from the bottom.
Waul bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Serova's guard.
Waul wants to control from the top but Serova keeps moving.
Serova throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Serova can't keep his opponent in guard - Waul advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Serova tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Waul thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Serova's head.

Waul is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Serova closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Serova lands in his opponent's guard.
Waul is breathing heavily.

Serova drops an elbow to the side of Waul's head.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Waul has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Serova can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Serova wants to stand but Waul is controlling his posture from full guard.

Waul is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Serova has his hands clasped together but Waul extends an breaks Serova's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Waul.
