Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Fred Trudel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Starsky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Trudel comes to the cage accompanied by Cadillac Pimpin. Fred Trudel has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Fred Trudel! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Starsky! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Trevor Gratis and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Trudel feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Starsky wants to sweep but no luck. Trudel trying to control but Starsky is working from the bottom. Starsky is looking for a triangle but Trudel pushes his legs off easily.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Trudel accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Starsky is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Starsky working for a triangle but Trudel defends it easily.
Trudel is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Starsky wants to sweep but no luck. Starsky had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Trudel is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Starsky Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Trudel's back instead.
That's one minute gone in the round. Starsky not allowing Trudel to control his hands. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Starsky misses with a punch to the head. Starsky working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet. Oooh a big shot gets through from Starsky. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!
Starsky lands an elbow to the side of the head. Starsky is trying to stick to Trudel's back but Trudel is turning into Starsky. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Starsky's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Trudel. Trudel trying to control but Starsky is working from the bottom. Starsky has his foot on Trudel's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Trudel works his way back into a safe position though. Starsky looks gassed!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Trudel wanted to stand there but Starsky had control of the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Starsky bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Trudel's guard. Trudel is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Starsky scoring with some ground and pound. Starsky trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Trudel is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Starsky defends well. Starsky wants to control from the top but Trudel keeps moving. Starsky might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Trudel kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Starsky forces Trudel back against the cage and clinches. Starsky unloads a knee to the mid-section. Trudel lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. Starsky gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Starsky works over Trudel with some ground and pound from guard. Trudel wants to sweep but no luck. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Starsky's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Starsky is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Starsky cracks Trudel with a solid left hand. Starsky wants to control from the top but Trudel keeps moving. Starsky scoring with punches to the head and body. Starsky loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Starsky drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Starsky jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John Starsky dominated that round. That's time! Trudel's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Starsky closes the distance and pushes Trudel back into the cage. Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Starsky obliges. Starsky misses with a knee to the head. Trudel takes a knee to the side of the body. Trudel takes a knee right on the jaw!
Starsky throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Trudel blocks it with crossed arms. Trudel is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Starsky lands a good knee to the midsection. Trudel won't want to take too many of those. Starsky gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Trudel.
Starsky is struggling to control the position. Starsky misses with a knee to the head. Starsky throws a knee to the head but misses.

Trudel tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Trudel is wriggling around trying to escape.
Starsky lands with some strikes. Starsky punishing his opponent with strikes. Starsky putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Trudel tries to hold on but Starsky pushes him away. Starsky jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Trudel manages to avoid the submission attempt. Starsky works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Starsky is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Trudel has escaped the position, nice work there. Starsky working away. Starsky wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Trudel, who protects the arm well. Starsky scoring with punches from side control. Starsky goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Trudel has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Starsky but great work by Trudel. Starsky sneaks back into half guard. Trudel winds up and cracks Starsky with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Starsky is trying to get back to full guard. Starsky is refusing to be controlled, as Trudel sits in half guard. Starsky is trying to get back to full guard. Starsky has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Trudel is working away from the top position though.

Trudel is pulling down on Starsky's head. It's preventing any offense from Starsky, at least for the moment. Starsky stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Trudel swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Starsky must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Starsky missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Trudel clinches but Starsky breaks the clinch and Starsky counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. A frustrated look appears on Trudel's face as he tries to break the clinch. A knee to the head by Starsky.
