The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
parris lands with a right hand.
parris tries to close the distance and clinch but DONG swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
parris scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. DONG doesn't seem bothered though.
parris looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? DONG is fending him off so far but parris persists. Nope, DONG circles away and we're back to standing.

parris shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. DONG is trying to defend but parris finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

parris decides to stand and escape the position.
parris shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says DONG as he avoids it easily.
DONG looks for the body kick but parris saw that one coming.

parris bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

parris wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by DONG, who protects the arm well.

DONG lands a big head kick that sends parris tumbling to the mat! DONG takes a step backwards and waves parris back to his feet - he wants the finish!

DONG throws an uppercut from half a mile away. parris sees it coming and avoids it easily.
parris fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but DONG avoids it really well and circles away.

DONG escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
parris throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent DONG stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
parris looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
DONG goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
