The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gonzaga avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Gabriel Gonzaga seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gonzaga shoots for a takedown but Allouete saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Allouete is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Gonzaga is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Gonzaga has escaped and now he's on top!

Gonzaga drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gonzaga jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Allouete is adopting a defensive guard.
Gonzaga postures up in Allouete's guard and throws a big left but Allouete blocks it.
Allouete is wriggling around but Gonzaga manages to pass to half guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Allouete lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Allouete looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Allouete wants to free his trapped foot but Gonzaga is holding on for dear life with his legs.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Allouete is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Allouete wants to stand but Gonzaga has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Allouete is taking a breather. Gonzaga says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Allouete doesn't manage to clinch there - Gonzaga circles away.

Gonzaga has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Allouete is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Gonzaga.

Allouete stands up and beckons Gonzaga to his feet.

Allouete shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Allouete takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Gonzaga is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Jaqcues Allouete just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

and Allouete counters with a nice double leg into side control. Gonzaga won't be happy with that.

Gonzaga is not content to let Allouete control the position.
Jaqcues Allouete overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Allouete is staying tight to Gonzaga's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Allouete decides to stand back up.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Gonzaga goes for a takedown in the clinch but Allouete prevents it.
Jaqcues Allouete has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gabriel Gonzaga.

Allouete's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Allouete throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Gonzaga was covering up waiting for the punch and Allouete finishes the takedown easily into guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Gonzaga had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Allouete is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Gonzaga Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Allouete's back instead.

Allouete is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Gonzaga gets his way!

Gonzaga is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Allouete has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Gonzaga controlling well, preventing Allouete from escaping the position.
Allouete knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gonzaga on the ground.

Allouete rolls, trying to escape but Gonzaga keeps control of the position.

Gonzaga has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.

Allouete defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Gonzaga's arms.
Allouete tries to escape but Gonzaga has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Gonzaga has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Allouete! Can he survive? No! He's out! Gonzaga gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
