Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Shin Ya (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Homer Simpson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shin Ya!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Homer Simpson!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Shigeki Sano and Taro Takaoka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Simpson goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Ya circles away from the clinch attempt.
Simpson is looking to clinch.
Ya gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Simpson to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Simpson has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Ya is proving hard to escape from.
Ya trying to control the position.
Ya bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Simpson's guard.
Ya stands up over Simpson, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Ya advances to half guard.
Ya is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Simpson pushes Ya off looking to stand but Ya dives back in and keeps control.
Simpson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ya. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Ya wants to free his trapped foot but Simpson is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Ya passes to full mount!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ya thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Simpson regains half guard.
Ya wants to work for an arm triangle but Simpson is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Ya is trying to work for a kimura but Simpson is defending well.
Simpson is trying to stand.

Simpson pushes Ya off and gets back to his feet.
Simpson misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Simpson fails with an attempt to clinch.
Ya has a takedown stuffed.
Simpson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Ya shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Simpson sprawls well. Simpson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Ya gets slowly back to his feet.
Simpson closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Simpson lands in his opponent's guard.

Simpson tries to kick Ya off but Ya keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Ya is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Simpson doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Ya.
Ya is breathing heavily.
Simpson wants to get back to his feet.
Simpson kicks off Ya and gets to his feet.
Simpson tries to clinch but Ya is having none of it.
Ya has a takedown stuffed.

Simpson is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

That was a close round but I would say that Shin Ya will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Ya chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Simpson can pounce on him.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Simpson darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Ya manages to get to full guard.

Simpson wanted to stand there but Ya had control of the position.
Simpson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Ya not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Ya has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Ya working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Simpson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Simpson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Ya has his hands on Simpson's head, controlling the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ya lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Simpson!

Ya goes for an armbar but Simpson turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Simpson.
Ya keeping moving, preventing Simpson from controlling successfully.
Ya tries to land a sweep but no joy.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Simpson wants to stand and escape but instead Ya has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Ya lands a couple of elbows.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ya accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Ya drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Ya as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Simpson screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Ya! Nice submission victory there!
