PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Joon Joones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Javier Aquila (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Aquila has chosen The Ultimate Fighter as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Konstantin Menshow and Ivan Kurochkin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aquila displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Joones.
Joones shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Aquila but Aquila pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Joon Joones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Joones moves into range and clinches up with Aquila.
Aquila has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Joones avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Joones tightens his grip and picks Aquila up, before dumping him to the ground. Aquila manages to land in guard.

Aquila has his foot on Joones's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Joones works his way back into a safe position though.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Aquila bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Joones's guard.

Joones drives through with a takedown into guard.

Aquila manages to work his way to half guard, despite Joones's best efforts.
Joones is keen to just control but Aquila is a slippery customer.

Joones keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Aquila's head.
Joones wants to get up but he can't break Aquila's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Joones cracks Aquila with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Joones misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
A telegraphed right hand from Aquila misses the target.
Joones shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Aquila as he jumps to the side.
Joones fails with an attempt to clinch.
Joones lands a really nice looking cross but Aquila seems unphased.

Joones shoots for a double leg takedown but Aquila sprawls well. He's pushed Joones's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
