Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kurt Kendall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris P (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kendall comes into the arena with Kool Moe Dee - I Go To Work blaring out of the sound system. Kurt Kendall has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kurt Kendall!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chris P!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, John Roberts and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kendall circles away from the clinch attempt.
Kendall moves out of range of the body kick.
P tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Kendall throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
P lands a jab to the nose.
P tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kendall paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Kendall shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Kendall was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

P tries to reverse the position but Kendall maintains control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

P is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Kendall takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Kendall is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. P can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
P is trying desperately to improve position.

Kendall moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, P has worked his arm free - good work by P!
Kendall wants to stand but P has his arm trapped.

Kendall's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

P tries to clinch there but Kendall circles away.
P walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Kendall checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
P tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kendall paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Kendall avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Kurt Kendall is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
P slips a jab and a cross from Kendall.
P throws an overhand right that lands on Kendall's shoulder, as Kendall tries to avoid the shot.
Chris P seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
P throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A solid leg kick lands there for P.
P tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kendall paws at him with a jab and circles away.

P is looking to control Kendall's arms but Kendall gets an underhook and turns him. Now P has his back to the cage.
P gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Kendall.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. P obliges.

Kendall has managed to clinch.
Kendall tries to circle away but P has him pinned against the cage.
P tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Kendall avoids it.
P tries to stall but Kendall uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Kendall is trying to force a seperation but P has the dominant position.
Kendall creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
P lands a nice knee to the body.
P keeps control of Kendall as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Kendall wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but P has him pressed against the cage.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
P lands a good knee to the midsection. Kendall won't want to take too many of those.

P lands an elbow that stopped Kendall in his tracks for a moment.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, P creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
P is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Nice body punch from P - that landed with a thud.
P using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Kendall has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Kendall jumps guard but P stands there with Kendall around his waist. Kendall gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

Kendall on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Kendall fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Kendall ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Kendall no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Kendall is looking for a sweep. P is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
P trying to mount his opponent but Kendall defends it.
P wants to get back to his feet.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
P is keen to just control but Kendall is a slippery customer.
Kendall pushes P off looking to stand but P dives back in and keeps control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
P is trying to control. Kendall wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Chris P showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

P misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
P looks to land a left hand but Kendall moved out of range nicely.
P moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
P looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
P throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Kendall throws a half hearted mid kick.
P looks to clinch

and Kendall counters by moving into the clinch.
P trying to land knees to the body.

Kendall scores with a head kick.
Kendall looks to land a body kick but P moved away.
Kendall tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but P was well out of range. Poor timing from Kendall.

and P counters with a leg kick.

Kendall has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by P.
P closes the distance looking to clinch
and Kendall counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps P thinking.
Horrible takedown by Kendall or perhaps it was just good defense by P which made him look bad.

Kendall is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt P will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Kendall tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but P swivels and escapes.
P lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
P defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Kendall.

P tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Kendall counters with a low kick, right behind P 's knee.
P takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

P throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
P takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.

Kendall wants to stand but P has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

and P counters with a nice uppercut.
Kendall is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
P wants to clinch

Kendall tries to break the clinch but P is controlling the position.
P is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Kendall is defending well for now.

P throws a sloppy head kick
and Kendall counters with a left and a right that stings P.
P is absolutely dripping with sweat - he looks exhausted.
P looks for the body kick but Kendall saw that one coming.
Kendall comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

and Kendall counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in P's guard now.
Kendall throws a big right hand that misses.
Kendall's corner is telling him to maintain position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kendall looking to sit in guard and control but P gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Kendall is trying to keep P in close.

P's corner is telling him to maintain position.

P stands and steps away. Kendall gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
A solid leg kick lands there for P.
P looks to throw the jab but Kendall is out of range.
P tries to clinch but Kendall moves away

and Kendall counters by clinching up.
P presses Kendall against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
P keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Kendall's efforts to push away.
Kendall tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. P just stands there and leans against the cage.

so Kendall counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! And we move into the final round!



P gets in close and instigates a clinch.

P throws a lazy right hand but Kendall sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

and Kendall counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
P is not content to let Kendall control the position.
Kendall sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. P defending well though.
Kendall perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

P has one foot on Kendall's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Kendall drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Kendall has gone for a leg lock! P slips out almost immediately though and dives into Kendall's guard.
Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.

P stands up from guard. Let's bang!
P throws a nice inside leg kick.
P dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Kendall. That did some damage!
Kendall takes a kick to the side of the head.
Kendall shoots in but no luck this time.

P wants to clinch but Kendall slips to the side

and Kendall counters with a takedown into side control.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
P seems a little lost for a moment, as Kendall dominates the positioning.
P controls the position for a moment.

Kendall has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Kendall looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
P throws a sloppy head kick and Kendall moves out of range easily.

Kendall throws a leg kick which misses P's front leg but catches the back leg as P tries to avoid it.
Chris P seems to be getting the better of the standup.

and P counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Chris P has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

P throws a left and a right that both miss

and Kendall counters with a nice double leg into side control. P won't be happy with that.
P is looking to reverse the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kendall is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down P's shoulder. That is not cool.
Kurt Kendall overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Kendall has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

And that's the end of the fight!
Kurt Kendall showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Kendall has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
