Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between anderson santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lucky Luciano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Luciano comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Samba De Janeiro kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Lucky Luciano acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
santos shoots in for a double leg but Luciano sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
santos tries to close the distance and clinch but Luciano swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
santos shoots in and bounces Luciano off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
santos will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Luciano is pulling down on santos's head. It's preventing any offense from santos, at least for the moment.
santos stands up over Luciano, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

santos really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
santos postures up in Luciano's guard and throws a big left but Luciano blocks it.
Luciano wants to sweep but no luck.
Luciano had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. santos is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Luciano Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take santos's back instead.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
santos rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
santos wants to improve his position but Luciano is controlling well.
santos holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Luciano is working for a submission of some sort.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
santos shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

santos tries to score a power double leg takedown but Luciano sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten santos somewhat.

and santos counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Luciano should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Luciano really doesn't want to stay on the ground with santos. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

santos has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Luciano can do anything to dispel that myth.

Luciano tries to clinch up.
Luciano slaps away a takedown attempt from santos, before circling back to the center of the mat.
santos shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Luciano as he avoids it easily.
santos throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Luciano's waist but Luciano gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing santos off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for anderson santos. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Luciano takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
