PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between George White (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fisk Harrison (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fisk Harrison is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, George White!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fisk Harrison!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Edson Gomes and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
White throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Harrison's waist but Harrison gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing White off to one side.

White drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
White with a flurry of punches that miss.
White in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
White trying to control the position from guard on top but Harrison is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Harrison is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
White slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Harrison wants to get back to his feet but White is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
White preventing the sweep.

White controls from within his opponent's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Harrison has his foot on White's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. White works his way back into a safe position though.
Harrison wants to sweep but no luck.

Harrison looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Harrison is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst White is controlling him.
Harrison looks gassed!
White trying to control but Harrison is working from the bottom.
Harrison has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but White has passed into side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Harrison is not content to let White control the position.
White has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Harrison is in all sorts of trouble here.
Harrison is squirming around, avoiding White's attempts to control the action.
You get the feeling that Harrison really doesn't like being in this position too much.
White looking to control but Harrison is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Harrison working to try and regain half guard.
White trying to control but Harrison is having none of it.
Harrison is working to get back to half guard.
Harrison is squirming around, avoiding White's attempts to control the action.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
White is landing with some decent strikes but Harrison is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
White lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

White has control of Harrison's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Harrison regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Harrison sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Harrison is looking for a sweep. White is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

White is working for a submission of some sort.
Harrison is trying to get back to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that George White will probably get the nod.
That's time! White's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


A really sloppy takedown attempt there from White.
White tries to clinch but Harrison moves out of range.
Nice jab there from Harrison.
Some wild striking there from Harrison.
Harrison lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
White shoots in but no luck this time.
Harrison will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
White tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Harrison paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Harrison throws a right and a left that both miss.
Harrison clobbers White with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

That's one minute gone in the round.
No joy there for Harrison, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Harrison thows a body shot but no joy.
Harrison throws a series of punches but White moves out of range.
Harrison misses with a series of wild punches.
Fisk Harrison is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Harrison stalks White and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into White's face. White staggers backwards, shaken.
White slips under a jab from Harrison.
White moves away from the strike by Harrison.
White fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for George White. That's going to take a lot out of him.

White scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

White tries for a kimura but Harrison is defending well.
Harrison tries to bench press White off him but White keeps the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Harrison is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on White's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Harrison wants to improve his position but White is controlling well.
White wants to take a breather but Harrison is having none of it.
Harrison is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of White's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take White's back!
White trying to control the position but Harrison manages to sink in the hooks.

White tries to escape the position.
White is working hard here to advance position.
Harrison gets his hands free as White looks to control.
Harrison just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
You can see the frustration on White's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
White looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
White manages to reverse the position and now he's in Harrison's guard. Nice work there by White.
White throws a strike but Harrison rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fisk Harrison showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Danga de danga de dang - Harrison scores with a four punch combination!
Harrison throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
White shoots in but Harrison avoids the takedown attempt easily.
White looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Harrison is fending him off so far but White persists. Nope, Harrison circles away and we're back to standing.
Harrison lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but White circles away quickly and effectively.
White wants to clinch up but Harrison keeps it at a distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Harrison cracks White with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Harrison connects with a nice looking jab.
White fails with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for George White. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Harrison lands a jab to White's midsection.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Oooh a lovely combination from Harrison sends White down but not out. Harrison dives into side control looking to finish.


It looks like George White has been cut.
White seems a little lost for a moment, as Harrison dominates the positioning.

Harrison stands up and beckons White to his feet.
Harrison throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Harrison scores with a three punch combo!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from White is defended easily by Harrison.
Harrison moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Harrison lands a nice shot to the body.
Harrison lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Harrison lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Harrison misses with a two punch combination.
A combination from Harrison does no damage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
White shoots in for a takedown but Harrison shows good takedown defense.
White is looking to clinch but Harrison is avoiding it.
Left hook, right uppercut from Harrison.
George White is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Harrison throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
White dives in and grabs Harrison's left leg, looking for a takedown. Harrison pushes down on White's head and hops out.
White walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Harrison lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but White circles away quickly and effectively.
Fisk Harrison seems to be getting the better of the standup.

White drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Harrison tries to get back to half guard but can't.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Harrison gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
White misses with a head shot.
Harrison sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Harrison gets full guard.
White looking to sit in guard and control but Harrison gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Harrison stands and steps away. White gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

And that's the end of the fight!
Fisk Harrison comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Harrison has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
