Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, George Johnson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mark Coleman! The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Eliza Hachem and Donatello Bradman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Johnson moves into the clinch successfully.
Coleman goes for a takedown attempt but Johnson pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Coleman scores a takedown into full mount! Johnson is trying to stand. Johnson blocking the ground and pound. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Johnson tries to hold on but Coleman pushes him away. Coleman can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Johnson is looking to escape. Johnson tries to hold on but Coleman postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Johnson can't escape the position.
Coleman throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. Johnson wants to control but Coleman is having none of it. Johnson trying desperately to get to his feet.
Coleman is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Johnson has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Johnson! Johnson won't allow Coleman to sweep him here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Johnson is stalling in the full guard. Johnson trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Johnson wants to control from the top but Coleman keeps moving. Coleman wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Johnson manages to pass to side control. Coleman is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Johnson pulls his head out easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Coleman trying to get back to full guard but Johnson takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Johnson avoids the attempt from Coleman to control. Johnson wants to control the pace but Coleman is squirming around nicely. Johnson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Coleman trying desperately to get to his feet.
Coleman tries to lock up and control but Johnson gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Johnson looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Coleman is working to get back to half guard.
Johnson looking to secure an arm triangle but Coleman defends it well. Johnson is breathing heavily. Coleman is trying to reverse the position but instead Johnson has taken his back - oops! Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Coleman rolls, trying to escape but Johnson keeps control of the position.
Coleman is trying to get back to his feet but Johnson has full control of the position and if anything, Coleman has just worked his way into a worse spot. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
George Johnson dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Coleman throws a hook but Johnson blocks it. Johnson shoots and misses and Coleman decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Johnson's guard. Johnson trying to control the position here. Johnson is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Johnson being controlled here, momentarily. Let's hope that Coleman has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Coleman wants to control from the top but Johnson keeps moving. Coleman has gone for a leg lock! Johnson slips out almost immediately though and dives into Coleman's guard. Coleman is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Coleman wants to take a breather but Johnson is having none of it. Coleman moves nicely into side control. Coleman throws an elbow but Johnson slips to the side and avoids it well. Coleman trying to control the position but Johnson is working away. Johnson struggling a bit here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Coleman trying to control the action but Johnson is working from the bottom. Johnson is looking for a sweep.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Johnson wants to clinch but Coleman slips to the side and Coleman counters with a nice double leg into side control. Johnson won't be happy with that. Coleman trying to control the position but Johnson is working away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Coleman lands a decent elbow from side control. Johnson is being controlled here. Johnson takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Coleman is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Johnson is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Coleman looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Johnson is avoiding damage well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mark Coleman showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
Coleman drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Johnson seems keen to control Coleman's posture. Mark Coleman has got the better of the ground game so far. Johnson is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Coleman is working Johnson over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Coleman trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Coleman is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Johnson looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
That's one minute gone in the round. Coleman working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Coleman with a nice head shot there. Coleman trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Coleman wants to control from the top but Johnson keeps moving. Coleman postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Coleman distracts Johnson with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Coleman slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Coleman postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Coleman looking to sit in guard and control but Johnson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Coleman avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Coleman is looking to sweep but instead, Johnson has passed into half guard.
Coleman flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Johnson prevents Coleman from standing back up.
Coleman is not content to let Johnson control the position. Coleman won't allow Johnson to pass to mount.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Coleman shoots and misses and Johnson counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Coleman is trying to stand.
Coleman wants to control but Johnson is keeping busy and won't allow it. Coleman gets back to full guard.
Coleman looking for a sweep. Not yet Coleman, not yet. Johnson throws and elbow that misses. Coleman uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Johnson's guard. Nice move by Coleman! Johnson not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
And that's the end of the fight! Mark Coleman comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Coleman has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
