Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bob Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Justin Coon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bob Smith is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bob Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Justin Coon!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Alyssa Summers and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith shoots in for a takedown but Coon shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Smith stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Coon swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Coon is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Smith tries to score a power double leg takedown but Coon sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Smith somewhat.

Coon tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Smith swivels and escapes.

Smith shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Smith drops back looking for a leg! Coon is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Coon manages to kick Smith off! Smith jumps back into Coon's guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Smith accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Smith looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Smith seems to be working for a kimura but Coon defends the submission attempt.

Smith sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Coon's guard.

Coon doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Smith counters with a single leg into guard. Coon didn't expect that.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Coon gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Smith to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Smith might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Smith stands and throws Coon's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Smith is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Coon knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Coon gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Coon tries to hold on but Smith postures up.

Smith has hold of Coon's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Coon manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Smith is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Coon has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Coon!
Coon won't allow Smith to sweep him here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!



Smith shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Smith showed some decent athleticism there.

Smith tries to lock up and control but Coon gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Coon pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Smith tries to reverse the position but Coon maintains control.
Coon has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Smith's face.

Smith bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Coon wants to stand but Smith has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Smith moves into full guard.

Smith working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Coon doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Coon manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Bob Smith is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Smith is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Coon lands a couple of elbows.
Coon throws and elbow that misses. Smith uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Coon's guard. Nice move by Smith!

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Bob Smith.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Smith, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
