PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Leo Cambarros (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gedo Sake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Cambarros might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Extreme - Kid Ego. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Leo Cambarros!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gedo Sake!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Edson Gomes and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A decent looking body kick lands there for Sake.
Cambarros throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Sake.
Cambarros rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Sake moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Sake shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Cambarros as he avoids it easily.
Leo Cambarros seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Cambarros moves into the clinch successfully.

Cambarros breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Nice sprawl there from Cambarros as Sake shoots in.
Cambarros walks forward, straight into a front kick from Sake.
Cambarros is breathing heavily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Sake shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Sake trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Cambarros wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Sake.
Sake wants to control the pace but Cambarros is squirming around nicely.

Sake looking to control but Cambarros is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Despite being in the dominant position, Gedo Sake just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and Cambarros counters with a takedown into side control.

Cambarros throws an elbow but Sake slips to the side and avoids it well.

You can see the frustration on Sake's face as Cambarros controls the position.
Cambarros looking to control but instead Sake has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.
Cambarros tries to pass to full mount but Sake defends it.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Cambarros is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gedo Sake dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Cambarros misses with a takedown

and Sake counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Sake.
Sake looking to sit in guard and control but Cambarros gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Cambarros controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Cambarros won't allow Sake to get back to his feet.
Cambarros knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sake on the ground.

Sake working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Cambarros doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Cambarros manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Sake is breathing heavily.
Cambarros's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Leo Cambarros just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Cambarros throws a left and a right that both miss
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Cambarros cracks a nice hook into Sake's ribs.

Cambarros darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Cambarros is figuring out what he wants to do next.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sake tries to get to full guard but Cambarros has control of the leg.
Sake gets back to full guard.

Sake is looking to stand up but Cambarros isn't so interested in that idea.
Cambarros controlling from the top position.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Cambarros accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Cambarros tries to stand but Sake is controlling from the bottom.
Cambarros stays in close to Sake's body and controls the position.

Sake is working an open guard so Cambarros takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Sake looking to hit a scissor sweep but Cambarros is one step ahead there.

Cambarros slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Cambarros seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Sake for as long as he can get away with.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Leo Cambarros just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Cambarros drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Cambarros remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Cambarros tries to move to mount but Sake blocks the move with his legs.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Sake thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Cambarros has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sake takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Sake manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Cambarros manages to get himself to full guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Cambarros is looking to stand up but Sake isn't so interested in that idea.
Leo Cambarros overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Sake trying to control the position from guard on top but Cambarros is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Cambarros wants to get back to his feet but Sake is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Sake wants to control from the top but Cambarros keeps moving.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Sake throws a jab when Cambarros was well out of range.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
A clash of legs there as Sake blocks the low kick.

and Cambarros counters with a shoot takedown. Sake fights it but they end up in guard.

Cambarros is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Cambarros controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

And that's the end of the fight!
Leo Cambarros showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Cambarros has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
