The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sagen shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Daytona napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Sagen tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Daytona wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Daytona creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Sagen sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Daytona is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Sagen is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Daytona has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Sagen is trying to control Daytona's posture but Daytona avoids it.
