PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Eduardo Sosa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Antonio Fachada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fachada has chosen Rock Superstar as his entrance music. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Eduardo Sosa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Antonio Fachada!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Gwen Towbar and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fachada throws a head kick but Sosa moves out of range.
Fachada misses with a straight left.
Sosa tries for a takedown but Fachada sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
The fight stays on the outside here - Fachada looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Fachada tries to close the distance and clinch but Sosa swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Fachada throws the left hand but Sosa avoids the punch easily.

Sosa closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Sosa trying to control from half guard but Fachada is working away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sosa uses his free foot to push down on Fachada's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Fachada.
Sosa trying to control but Fachada is having none of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Sosa controlling the position easily from mount.

Sosa can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Fachada is looking to escape.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Fachada trying desperately to get to his feet.
Sosa wants to control the pace but Fachada is squirming around nicely.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

The referee stands the fighters back up. Eduardo Sosa just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Fachada loads up on a big right hand but Sosa slips the punch.
Sosa avoids the body shot from Fachada.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Fachada pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Fachada loads up on a big right hand but Sosa slips the punch.

Fachada has managed to clinch.
Sosa is working for takedown but Fachada is calmly controlling the position for now.
Fachada is looking to break free of the clinch but Sosa has double underhooks.
Sosa wants a takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Eduardo Sosa. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Sosa keeps control of Fachada as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Fachada wants to break free but Sosa has control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sosa prevents Fachada from breaking the clinch.
Fachada looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Sosa drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Fachada gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Fachada is pressed up against the cage. Sosa has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Fachada down to the mat. Fachada avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Sosa checks the leg kick nicely there.
Sosa fails with a takedown attempt.
Antonio Fachada is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Fachada misses with a few strikes there.
Antonio Fachada seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sosa shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Fachada pinned against the cage. Fachada gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
No luck for Sosa with that takedown attempt.
Sosa bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Sosa shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Fachada's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sosa sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Fachada's guard.
Sosa passes the guard and advances to mount!
Fachada is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Fachada is squirming around, avoiding Sosa's attempts to control the action.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fachada trying desperately to get to his feet.
Sosa wants to control the pace but Fachada is squirming around nicely.
Sosa is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Fachada is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Sosa is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Fachada has managed to escape the submission attempt.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Sosa takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!



Sosa feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Sosa passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Sosa is looking to take a break and control but Fachada is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Sosa wants to control but Fachada is keeping him busy.
Fachada stops Sosa from passing to mount.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Sosa is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Fachada looks calm but he's in trouble here. Sosa gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Fachada is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Sosa lets go of the hold and Fachada can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:36 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Eduardo Sosa!
