Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Alvin Theodore (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Oni Kawajiri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kawajiri is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Like a G6. Alvin Theodore has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Alvin Theodore!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Oni Kawajiri!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Hirohito Nitta and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kawajiri avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Kawajiri misses with a straight left.
Kawajiri lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Kawajiri shoots in for a double leg but Theodore sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Kawajiri tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Theodore paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Theodore keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Kawajiri takes a head kick and keeps coming.

and Kawajiri counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Theodore thinking.

and Kawajiri decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Theodore's guard.
Theodore avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Kawajiri stays in close to Theodore's body and controls the position.
Kawajiri trying to control the position from guard on top but Theodore is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Kawajiri tries to free his leg and advance position but Theodore is retaining full guard.
Kawajiri prevents Theodore from getting back to his feet.
Theodore keeping moving, preventing Kawajiri from controlling successfully.
Kawajiri wants to pass the guard but Theodore is keeping the position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Kawajiri has a takedown stuffed.
Alvin Theodore has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Oni Kawajiri.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Theodore fails with an attempt to clinch.
Alvin Theodore seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kawajiri blocks a head kick by Theodore.

Theodore moves into the clinch successfully.
Kawajiri jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Theodore walks away with a smile on his face. Kawajiri gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Kawajiri misses with a takedown attempt - Theodore sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

and Kawajiri decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Theodore's guard.
Kawajiri controls from within his opponent's guard.
Theodore looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Kawajiri puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Kawajiri is looking to take a break and control but Theodore is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Kawajiri is thwarting Theodore's attempts to control the position.

Theodore wants to improve his position but Kawajiri is controlling well.
Kawajiri sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Theodore defending well though.
Theodore tries to get to full guard but Kawajiri has control of the leg.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Kawajiri will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Good leg kick by Theodore there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Theodore clinches with his opponent.
Kawajiri takes an elbow to the forehead.


It looks like Oni Kawajiri has been cut.

Theodore stalls.
Kawajiri tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Theodore just stands there and leans against the cage.
Theodore taking a breather.
Theodore gets a warning from the ref for wasting time.
Kawajiri avoiding damage as Theodore throws knees to the body.
Theodore tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Kawajiri avoids it.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Alvin Theodore.
Theodore darts in trying to clinch

and Kawajiri counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Oni Kawajiri dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Oni Kawajiri's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Kawajiri shoots in and drives through. Theodore sprawls well.
Theodore closes the distance looking to clinch

so Kawajiri counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Kawajiri trying to control but Theodore is working from the bottom.
Theodore is trying to hold Kawajiri in close to prevent damage but Kawajiri has managed to pass into half guard.
Kawajiri scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Theodore has hold of Kawajiri's hands but Kawajiri slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Kawajiri wants to pass the guard but Theodore is defending well.
Kawajiri is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Kawajiri looking to control but Theodore is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Kawajiri postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Theodore looks a forlorn figure.
Theodore is looking to improve his position but Kawajiri isn't that keen on the idea.

Kawajiri working for a submission but Theodore is keeping him at bay.
Kawajiri is breathing heavily.
Theodore tries to lock up and control but Kawajiri gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Kawajiri is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Theodore has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Theodore!

Kawajiri looking for a guillotine here but Theodore defends easily.
Theodore wants to stand but Kawajiri is controlling his posture from full guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Kawajiri has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Theodore can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Theodore would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Theodore trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

Kawajiri has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Theodore can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Theodore is looking to stand up but Kawajiri won't let him.
Oni Kawajiri has got the better of the ground game so far.

Kawajiri is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Theodore stands up from Kawajiri's guard - Theodore perhaps looking for a knockout.

Theodore closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Theodore lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
Theodore missing with knees to the body.
Kawajiri tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Theodore lands an elbow that stopped Kawajiri in his tracks for a moment.
Kawajiri drops down looking for an ankle pick but Theodore pulls his leg out and moves away.

Oni Kawajiri showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's time! Back to the action! And we move into the final round!



Theodore clinches up with Kawajiri and pushes him back against the cage.
Theodore tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Kawajiri avoids it.
Kawajiri goes for a takedown in the clinch but Theodore prevents it.
Theodore gets underhooks to prevent Kawajiri's takedown attempt.
Kawajiri tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Theodore smiles and moves away.
Alvin Theodore has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Oni Kawajiri.
Theodore tries to clinch up but Kawajiri circles away and keeps his distance.
Theodore tries to close the distance and clinch but Kawajiri swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Theodore drives through and clinches with Kawajiri against the cage.
Theodore gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Theodore lands an elbow inside.
Kawajiri wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Kawajiri takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Theodore's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Theodore lands an elbow that stopped Kawajiri in his tracks for a moment.


That has opened up Oni Kawajiri's cut even more.
Kawajiri looking for a takedown.
Kawajiri tries to pull guard but Theodore won't allow it.
Kawajiri takes an elbow to the temple.


The cut above Oni Kawajiri's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Theodore is struggling to control the position.
Kawajiri takes an elbow to the forehead.
Kawajiri tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Theodore just stands there and leans against the cage.
Kawajiri blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Stalling in the clinch from Theodore.
Kawajiri tries to pull guard but Theodore holds him up against the cage and eventually Kawajiri drops back down to his feet.
Theodore lands an elbow just above Kawajiri 's eye.


Oni Kawajiri's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Oni Kawajiri's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:01 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Alvin Theodore!
