Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alba Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tito Ortiz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alba Rua!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tito Ortiz!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ortiz tries a head kick but it misses.
Rua avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Ortiz throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rua's waist but Rua gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ortiz off to one side.
Rua walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Ortiz checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Tito Ortiz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rua shoots and misses

and Ortiz counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Ortiz is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Rua tries to hold on but Ortiz pushes him away.
Ortiz looking to control and managing it successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ortiz trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Ortiz lands with some strikes.


It looks like Alba Rua has been cut.

Rua bucks up and throws Ortiz to the side - he's got back to his feet. Great escape!

Ortiz scores with a takedown into Rua's guard.
Ortiz stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rua swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Rua is looking to stand up but Ortiz isn't so interested in that idea.

Ortiz wants to control from the top but Rua keeps moving.

Ortiz prevents Rua from escaping the position.
Rua can't do much from the bottom here.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Ortiz shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Rua is trying to reverse the position but instead Ortiz has taken his back - oops!
Rua wants to get back to his feet.
Ortiz is not going to allow Rua to sit and survive in this position.

Rua is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Ortiz gets his hands free as Rua looks to control.
I would not like to be Rua right now.
Rua trying to control the action but Ortiz just sinks the hooks in.
Rua rolls, trying to escape but Ortiz keeps control of the position.

Rua is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rua rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

Ortiz is looking for a kimura but Rua is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Ortiz to get the leverage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Rua has his takedown stuffed

and Ortiz counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Ortiz.
Ortiz distracts Rua with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Ortiz wants to control from the top but Rua keeps moving.

Ortiz gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
A nice combination there by Ortiz.
Rua shoots in for a takedown but Ortiz shows good takedown defense.
Ortiz looks for a takedown but Rua sprawls well.

Rua looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Ortiz is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Rua's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Rua's back!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Watch the back of the head! Comes the shout from the referee towards Ortiz.
Ortiz just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

Tito Ortiz showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!



Ortiz shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Ortiz was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Ortiz avoids the attempt from Rua to control.
Ortiz tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Rua can't escape the position.
Ortiz lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Rua hang on?
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Rua regains half guard.
Ortiz not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Ortiz sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Rua is staying active underneath Ortiz, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Ortiz connects with a nice short shot to Rua's temple.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Ortiz fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Ortiz shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Ortiz passes the guard and advances to mount!

Rua holds on for dear life, controlling Ortiz's posture momentarily.
Rua throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.
Rua is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Rua is wriggling around trying to escape.
Ortiz won't let Rua get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Rua is trying to stand but he's not in a good position to be doing that! Ortiz has taken his back!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Ortiz is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
Ortiz is looking to finish with some ground and pound!
Rua trying to control the hands but Ortiz breaks the grip.
Rua is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
Rua is trying to break free.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Rua is keeping busy.

And that's the end of the fight!
Tito Ortiz comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Ortiz winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
