Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mike Child (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paulo Mendosa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Mike Child has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Mike Child seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mike Child! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Paulo Mendosa! The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Steve Erwin and Bruno Hogan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mendosa misses with a hook. Mendosa shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Mendosa showed some decent athleticism there. Mendosa is looking for a kimura but Child is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Mendosa to get the leverage. Mendosa is trying to work for a kimura but Child is defending well.
Child is trying is best to control the position here. Nice strikes from Mendosa there. Mendosa is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Mendosa blocks the strikes from Child.
Mendosa thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Mendosa throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Child is looking to escape. Child looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mendosa sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Child defending well though. Child is trying to stand up here but Mendosa is controlling him well.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Child closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Child is looking to take a break and control but Mendosa is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Mendosa is trying to control Child's posture but Child avoids it. Mendosa is trying to get back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Child wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Mendosa, who protects the arm well. Child is breathing heavily. Mendosa is looking to reverse the position. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Mendosa is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Mendosa is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Child's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Mendosa has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Mendosa moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mendosa wants to sweep here but Child controlling him for the moment. Mendosa manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Mendosa looking to finish Child with some ground and pound. This is bad for Child! Mendosa tries to control but Child wriggling away. Mendosa in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Child is bucking up trying to escape but Mendosa cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Mendosa looking to control but Child is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Mendosa lands a big elbow. Mendosa has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Child's face.
Mendosa wants to control the pace but Child is squirming around nicely. Mendosa punishing his opponent with strikes. Mendosa lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Mendosa looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Mendosa connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Paulo Mendosa dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Mendosa looks to land a right hand but Child moved out of range. Mendosa scores with a jab. Child acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Mendosa scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Mendosa shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Mendosa is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Child has managed to free his arm - good work. Child is trying to control but can't.
Mendosa thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Child to regain full guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Mendosa passes into half guard. Paulo Mendosa has got the better of the ground game so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mendosa lands strikes from half guard. Mendosa wants to lay and pray for a moment but Child keeps working. Mendosa is stalling here. Child is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Mendosa seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Child has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. Child is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Mendosa knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Mendosa is trying to get back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Child is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Child defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Mendosa's arms.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mendosa lands shots from the back. Mendosa is looking for the choke from the back position but Child is controlling his hands well. Child is covering up but some of the strikes from Mendosa are getting through and doing damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mendosa trying to control momentarily.
Child just trying to survive but Mendosa is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish. Mendosa is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Child defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Mendosa's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mendosa is persistently looking for the submission but Child is defending it well.
Mendosa lands strikes to the head. Mendosa lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Mendosa.
Mendosa has his opponent's back and is working for the choke. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Child covering up well under a series of strikes from Mendosa. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Mendosa is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Child knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Child for a finish. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Paulo Mendosa showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Child's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Mendosa shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Child looking for a guillotine here but Mendosa defends easily.
Mendosa drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Mendosa as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Child screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Mendosa! Nice submission victory there!
