PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Morse Hores (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ground Pound (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Morse Hores!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ground Pound!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Wesley Smith and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hores tries to close the distance and clinch but Pound swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Pound closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Pound trying to land knees to the body.
Pound blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
A frustrated look appears on Hores's face as he tries to break the clinch.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
A left hand lands to the body for Pound.
Hores drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Hores looking to slow down the pace here.
Hores changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Pound fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Danga de danga de dang - Hores scores with a four punch combination!
A combination from Pound does no damage.
Pound throws a series of punches but Hores moves out of range.
Pound tries to bum rush Hores with a series of wild strikes but Hores uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Pound throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Pound throws a hook but Hores avoids it easily.
Hores needs to keep his hands up - Pound had a free shot at his head there.
Hores walks into a jab.
Hores shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Hores doesn't manage to clinch there - Pound circles away.

Hores changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Pound looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Pound is looking for a sweep.
Hores cracks Pound with a big elbow.
Pound is looking to reverse the position.
Pound is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Pound holding on.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hores postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Pound might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Hores kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Pound is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Pound looks to land a combination but Hores avoids it well.
Pound will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Pound misses the shot to the body.
Hores fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Pound looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Hores avoids a punch combination nicely.
Hores misses with a wild combination.
Hores tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Pound swivels and escapes.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Morse Hores. That's going to take a lot out of him.

It looks like Morse Hores has been cut.
Pound misses with a double jab.
Hores misses with a few strikes there.
Hores throws a nice outside leg kick.
Pound fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Pound lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Pound tries to lock up and control but Hores gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Pound is in a horrible position here. Hores smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Hores wants to control the pace but Pound is squirming around nicely.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Pound can do anything to dispel that myth.
Pound wants to hold on but Hores pushes him away.
Hores has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Hores throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
Pound holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Hores tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Pound really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hores. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Hores postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Pound looks a forlorn figure.
Hores prevents Pound from getting the reversal.

Hores won't let Pound get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Pound in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Pound is breathing heavily.
Hores punching from mount but Pound doing a good job of avoiding damage.

Pound avoids a series of strikes thrown by Hores.
BOOM! Hores connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Morse Hores overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Hores working for a submission but Pound is keeping him at bay.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hores punching from mount but Pound doing a good job of avoiding damage.
Hores throwing strikes here but Pound is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Pound wants to hold on but Hores pushes him away.
Pound keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Hores thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Hores lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Morse Hores dominated that second round.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Pound loads up on a big right hand but Hores slips the punch.
Pound misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Pound lands the left hand.
Pound misses with a two punch combination.
Hores dodges the punch combination from Pound.
Pound lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.


Hores is rocked!
Pound looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Pound throws a series of punches but Hores moves out of range.
Pound fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Hores manages to avoid it.
Hores scores with a one two! Pound had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Hores decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Pound works his way to full guard. Good work.
Pound takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Pound not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Pound avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Pound wants to stand and escape but Hores is having none of it.
Hores trying to control the position from guard on top but Pound is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Pound trying to keep a closed guard but Hores is proving a slippery customer.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
A swing and a miss from Pound.
Hores pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Pound avoids a kick to the body.
A combination from Pound does no damage.

Hores clinches up with Pound and pushes him back against the cage.
Pound scores with a hook to the body.
Hores is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Pound lands a nice shot to the body.
Hores blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
A short uppercut from Pound.

Pound lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
Pound lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Hores tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Pound lands a body punch in the clinch.

Pound escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Pound will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Pound falls off balance throwing a combination

and Hores counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Hores.

Pound looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Hores trying to control but Pound is working from the bottom.
Hores working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Hores is standing up over Pound. Pound looks to escape but Hores dives into side control.

Hores is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Pound is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Hores wants to control but Pound is keeping him busy.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Pound manages to get back to half guard.
Pound is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Pound keeping hold of Hores's head, controlling as best he can.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ground Pound comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Pound has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
