Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Ellis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jack James has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jack James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jason Ellis!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Robert Twigg and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James tries to bum rush Ellis with a series of wild strikes but Ellis uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Ellis moves out of range of the body kick from James.
James wants to clinch.
James swinging wilding here.
James lands a nice looking body kick.
Ellis throws a solid leg kick but James takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Ellis.
Ellis leaves James with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Ellis throws a right and a left that James avoids nicely.
Ellis shoots in for a double leg but James sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Ellis looks gassed!

James gets a takedown into half guard.
James slows the pace down in half guard.
Ellis is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

That's one minute gone in the round.

James decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from James - that will leave a mark!

James closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Ellis did well to prevent James getting side control.

James stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Ellis to get to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

and Ellis counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
A solid body kick from James.
James darts in trying to clinch

and Ellis counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Ellis stops James from standing up.
James lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Ellis!
Ellis is working to get back to half guard.

James trying to control but he's not successful this time.
James avoids the attempt from Ellis to control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
James controlling from the full mount.
James wants to control the pace but Ellis is squirming around nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack James dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Ellis tries to bum rush James with a series of wild strikes but James uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
James takes a swing at Ellis's ribcage but misses.
James throws a series of punches but Ellis moves out of range.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from James.
Ellis swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and James makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
James lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by James.

James throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Ellis was covering up waiting for the punch and James finishes the takedown easily into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

James stands up from Ellis's guard - James perhaps looking for a knockout.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

James misses with a jab, cross combination.
Ellis leaves James with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

A jab from Ellis does it's job there.
Ellis will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
The fight stays on the outside here - James looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
James lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Ellis circles away quickly and effectively.

Ellis gets the takedown into side control.
Ellis scores with a couple of short elbows.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ellis is chipping away with strikes.
Ellis grinds an elbow into James's temple.
Ellis lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Ellis creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
James wants to get back to his feet but Ellis drags him back down.
Ellis scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at James to see if he's OK.
Ellis looking to punish the body of his opponent here but James is avoiding damage well.
James is looking for a sweep.
James pushes Ellis away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Ellis gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ellis swings around for an armbar but James sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Ellis's guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ellis can do anything to dispel that myth.

James stands up from Ellis's guard - James perhaps looking for a knockout.
Ellis stalks James and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into James's face. James staggers backwards, shaken.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Ellis is looking for a takedown up against the cage. James gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Ellis has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. James is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Ellis has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. James avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Jack James has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jason Ellis.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
James gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Ellis.
Ellis is pressed up against the cage. James has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Ellis down to the mat. Ellis avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
James looks for a takedown but Ellis sprawls well.
James takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Danga de danga de dang - Ellis scores with a four punch combination!

James closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack James dominated that second round.
That's time! Back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Ellis fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. James sprawls well initially but Ellis persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

James makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

James decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

James postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Ellis to stand up.
Ellis throws a left and a right that both miss

and James counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Ellis!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Ellis tries to reverse the position but James maintains control.
James tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
James looking to control but Ellis is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
James is really struggling to control Ellis but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Jason Ellis has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

That's three minutes gone in the round.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Jack James just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
James throws a right and a left that Ellis avoids nicely.
Ellis finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
James tries to clinch but Ellis moves out of range.
James misses with a combination

and Ellis counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for James!
Jack James overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
James sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Jack James is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Ellis is working for a kimura but James is defending it quite comfortably.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jack James showed his dominance in that final round.
Well James has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
