Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Peterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Dalton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jim Dalton!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Sergei Dronov and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Peterson wants to clinch.
Peterson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Dalton fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Peterson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Dalton sprawls well initially but Peterson persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Dalton tries to roll over but Peterson keeps him under control.

Peterson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Dalton keeps working.

Peterson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Dalton on the ground.

Dalton tries to hold on but Peterson pushes him away.

Peterson takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Dalton tries to kick Peterson off but Peterson keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Peterson's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Dalton has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Peterson is working away from the top position though.
Peterson thows a huge punch but Dalton dodges it nicely.

Peterson prevents Dalton from breaking the clinch.
Dalton wants to break free but Peterson has control.
Peterson throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Dalton blocks it with crossed arms.
Peterson is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Dalton is defending well for now.
Peterson lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.

Peterson is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Peterson jumps guard but Dalton stands there with Peterson around his waist. Peterson gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Dalton changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Peterson fights it off and pushes away nicely.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Peterson drops back looking for a leg! Dalton is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Dalton manages to kick Peterson off! Peterson jumps back into Dalton's guard.

Peterson stops Dalton from standing up.

Peterson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Dalton is looking to stand up but Peterson isn't so interested in that idea.

Peterson stands and steps away. Dalton gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Dalton has his takedown stuffed
and Peterson counters with a thumping low kick.
Dalton ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Peterson moves away.
The fight stays on the outside here - Peterson looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Peterson wants to clinch.

Dalton closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Peterson to the mat! Peterson manages to get full guard.
Peterson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Jim Dalton has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Mike Peterson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Well Peterson has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
