The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Napiera. Jones wants to clinch. Jones throws a sloppy head kick and Napiera moves out of range easily. Napiera scores with a crisp jab that stopped Jones in his tracks. Jones fails to land the takedown. Jones tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Napiera paws at him with a jab and circles away. Jones throws a head kick that misses. A punch combination from Napiera misses. Napiera lands a jab to Jones's midsection. Jones fails in his attempt to clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Napiera checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Jones tries to clinch there but Napiera circles away.
Napiera shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Napiera showed some decent athleticism there. Napiera trying to control the pace. Jones might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round. Napiera trying to control from half guard but Jones is working away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Jones has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Napiera is working away from the top position though. Napiera tries to pass the half guard into mount. Jones knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Napiera stalling.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Napiera seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Jones does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Napiera stalling. Napiera is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kris Napiera dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Napiera cracks Jones with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Jones pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Napiera shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Napiera drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Jones manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Napiera has Jones in his guard. Napiera is pulling down on Jones's head. It's preventing any offense from Jones, at least for the moment. Jones pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Napiera is keeping the position for now.
That's one minute gone in the round. Napiera controls Jones momentarily but Jones frees himself. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Napiera holds on and takes a little breather. Jones trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Napiera is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Jones rolls with it to try and escape but Napiera cranks on the arm and Jones is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
