Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ricky Vaughn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charlie Day (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vaughn comes to the cage accompanied by The Final Countdown. Ricky Vaughn has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ricky Vaughn! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Charlie Day! The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Alyssa Summers and Joseph Jones.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Some wild striking there from Vaughn.
Vaughn shoots in for a takedown but Day shows good takedown defense. Day is looking to land body kicks. Vaughn decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Vaughn thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Vaughn scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Day is refusing to be controlled, as Vaughn sits in half guard. Vaughn passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Day! Day is trying desperately to improve position. Vaughn pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Day holds of for dear life. Vaughn punishing his opponent with strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Day gets back to half guard. Vaughn wants to pass the guard but Day is defending well. Vaughn thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Vaughn trying to control from half guard but Day is working away. Vaughn thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Day's head. Day keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Day preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head. Vaughn looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Vaughn has decided to stand back up but his arm is trapped. Whilst he's worrying about his arm, Day works to full guard.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Day rushes Vaughn and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Day turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Day is looking to take a break and control but Vaughn is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Day stands up and beckons Vaughn to his feet. Vaughn throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Vaughn fails with a takedown attempt. Vaughn gets the takedown into side control. Vaughn is breathing heavily. You can see the frustration on Day's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Day avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Vaughn. Day takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Vaughn tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Vaughn working away. Vaughn misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Vaughn wants to control but Day is keeping him busy.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Day tries to clinch but Vaughn moves out of range. Day fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Vaughn, pushing him back against the cage. Day has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Ricky Vaughn has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Charlie Day. Day pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Vaughn closes the distance and pushes Day back into the cage. Vaughn jumps guard.

Day wants to stand up but Vaughn has a hold of him and won't allow it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Ricky Vaughn will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Vaughn closes the distance and clinches up with Day, looking for a takedown. Vaughn pushes Day against the cage but Day circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Day stuffs the takedown. Vaughn shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ricky Vaughn. That's going to take a lot out of him. Vaughn wants to clinch and Day counters by moving into the clinch. Day breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Nice body kick there by Day. Vaughn fails with the takedown and Day counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Vaughn is lucky that one didn't land flush. Vaughn circles away from the clinch attempt.
Vaughn misses with a takedown and Day counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Day. Vaughn can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Day controls the pace. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Day wants to get up but he can't break Vaughn's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Day throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Vaughn tries to roll over but Day keeps him under control. Vaughn is looking to get back to full guard here but Day has managed to pass to side control instead. Day controlling the pace for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Let's hope that Day has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Vaughn is looking to improve his position but Day isn't that keen on the idea.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Day controlling the pace for now. Vaughn bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Charlie Day has got the better of the ground game so far. Day is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Vaughn trying to control the position from guard on top but Day is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Vaughn stands up over Day, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Vaughn has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Vaughn throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Day works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Day bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Vaughn's guard. Day is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Vaughn is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Day is aware though and is defending well. Vaughn working for a triangle but Day defends it easily.
Day slips nicely into half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Charlie Day showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!
Vaughn throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Vaughn shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Day's guard. Vaughn passes Day's left leg - he's now in half guard. Day is staying active underneath Vaughn, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Day won't allow Vaughn to pass to mount. Vaughn not landing any meaningful shots this time. Day gets back to full guard.

That could mean trouble for Vaughn! Vaughn is trying to get back to his feet but can't. Day controlling from the full mount. Day moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Vaughn has worked his arm free - good work by Vaughn!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Vaughn parries the strikes from Day easily there. Day is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Vaughn to escape.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Day has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Day lands a nice leg kick that just misses Vaughn's sensitive parts. Day throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. Vaughn gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Day decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Vaughn's guard. Vaughn working a defensive guard but Day manages to pass into side control anyway.
Vaughn is looking for a sweep. Vaughn is not content to let Day control the position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Vaughn defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Day. Vaughn doesn't succeed with the takedown and Day counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
And that's the end of the fight! Charlie Day comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Day has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
