Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bue Buxley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 1, fighting out of New York, Ed Sterns!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Dean Styles and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sterns fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Sterns tries to bum rush Buxley with a series of wild strikes but Buxley uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
No joy there for Sterns, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Sterns swinging wildly here.
Sterns slips a straight right by Buxley.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Buxley attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Sterns checks the leg kick nicely there.
Sterns fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Sterns throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Buxley looks for the body kick but Sterns saw that one coming.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Sterns throws a series of punches but Buxley moves out of range.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Sterns fails to land with a series of punches.
Sterns will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Bue Buxley has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ed Sterns.

and Sterns decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Buxley's guard.

Sterns drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Sterns jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Buxley wants to stand and escape but Sterns is having none of it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sterns looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Sterns is breathing heavily.

Buxley drops back looking for a leg! Sterns is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Sterns manages to kick Buxley off! Buxley jumps back into Sterns's guard.
Sterns has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Buxley tries to free his leg and advance position but Sterns is retaining full guard.

Buxley avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Sterns looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Buxley got a little sloppy there for a moment and Sterns has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Buxley has managed to get both his arms back between Sterns's legs - danger averted.
Buxley stands up over Sterns, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Buxley really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Buxley postures up in Sterns's guard and throws a big left but Sterns blocks it.

Buxley is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Sterns sees it coming and defends easily.

Sterns is looking for a sweep. Buxley is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Sterns avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Buxley misses with a double jab.
Sterns looks for a takedown but Buxley sprawls well.

Buxley drives through with a takedown into guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bue Buxley dominated that second round.
That's time! Buxley's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Sterns misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Buxley sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Buxley pushes Sterns off and scrambles back to his feet.

Sterns throws a right hand that Buxley ducks under and follows up with a left that Buxley also avoids with ease.

Buxley shoots for a takedown but Sterns saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bue Buxley. That's going to take a lot out of him.
