PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Aaron Hoost (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Standan Strike (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hoost kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Pink Floyd - Another Brick in the Wall. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Nard Betker and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Strike tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Strike connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Hoost gets the takedown into side control.
Strike wants to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hoost lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Strike is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Hoost grinds an elbow into Strike's temple.
Hoost has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Strike is pushing Hoost's head away, looking to escape. Hoost manages to hold on to the position though.

Hoost is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Strike is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Hoost moves into range and clinches up with Strike.
Strike landing knees to the head.
With the fighters up against the cage, Strike throws an elbow but misses.
Hoost drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Strike gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Strike lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
Strike throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

Hoost has Strike pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Strike manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Strike tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Hoost avoids it.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Strike unloads a knee to the mid-section.
Strike lands an elbow that stopped Hoost in his tracks for a moment.

Hoost feints and as Strike raises his hands in defense, Hoost changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

and Hoost counters with a single leg into guard. Strike didn't expect that.

Hoost postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Strike is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Hoost, into his guard.
Strike wants to stand but Hoost has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Hoost pulls Strike in close to his closed guard and prevents Strike from doing any damage or advancing position.

Hoost looking for a sweep. Not yet Hoost, not yet.

Strike stands up and waves to Hoost to follow him.

Standan Strike has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Strike bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Hoost's head backwards.

Aaron Hoost is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Strike makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hoost, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
