Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Derice Sanka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrew Spangler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Andrew Spangler has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Derice Sanka!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Andrew Spangler!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spangler will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Sanka shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Spangler pinned against the cage. Spangler gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Spangler lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Sanka has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Sanka and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

It looks like Derice Sanka has been cut.
Sanka dives in and grabs Spangler's left leg, looking for a takedown. Spangler pushes down on Sanka's head and hops out.
Sanka misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Derice Sanka. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Sanka fails to land with a series of punches.
Sanka fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Spangler avoids it really well and circles away.
Sanka tries to close the distance and clinch but Spangler swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Sanka shoots in for a double leg but Spangler sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Spangler throws a front kick aimed at Sanka's knee but Sanka avoids it well.
Spangler comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Sanka shoots in for a takedown but Spangler shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Spangler works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sanka is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Spangler accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

and Spangler counters with a one-two to the body.
Spangler takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Spangler throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Sanka was covering up waiting for the punch and Spangler finishes the takedown easily into guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Sanka is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Spangler postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Spangler clinches.

Sanka is fighting off a takedown attempt but Spangler is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Sanka to the mat. Sanka regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Sanka bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Spangler's guard.

Sanka drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Spangler manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Sanka has Spangler in his guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Sanka wants to stand up but Spangler is controlling him.

Andrew Spangler showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Sanka drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Sanka as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Spangler screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Sanka! Nice submission victory there!
