Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Mark Hill! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Rafael Gonzales! The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Donald Grub and Daniel Bishop.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hill tries for a takedown but Gonzales sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Hill tries to score a power double leg takedown but Gonzales sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hill somewhat. Hill looks for a takedown but Gonzales sprawls well. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mark Hill. That's going to take a lot out of him. Gonzales keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Hill fails with the takedown. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hill gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Gonzales to score an easy takedown into full guard. Gonzales in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gonzales would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gonzales trying to control the position from guard on top but Hill is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Gonzales is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Gonzales has gone for a leg lock! Hill slips out almost immediately though and dives into Gonzales's guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hill accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Gonzales is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Gonzales looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Hill puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Hill is controlling the pace.
Hill prevents Gonzales from improving his position. Hill trying to control the action but Gonzales is working from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hill wants to pass the guard but Gonzales is defending well. Gonzales is trying to stand.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Gonzales scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Gonzales swings around for an armbar but Hill sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Gonzales's guard. Hill slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Gonzales looks gassed! Hill tries to stand but Gonzales is controlling his head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hill tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hill has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Hill throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Gonzales tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck. Hill takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gonzales drives through with a takedown into guard. Hill looking to hit a scissor sweep but Gonzales is one step ahead there. Hill is trying to control the position but Gonzales postures up. Gonzales gets to his feet - Hill follows without any prompting. Gonzales changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hill looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Gonzales swings around for an armbar but Hill sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Gonzales's guard. Hill trying to control but Gonzales is working from the bottom. Gonzales is breathing heavily. Hill is really struggling to control Gonzales but he's trying to hold on to the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hill pushes down on Gonzales's leg and manages to get into half guard. Gonzales is staying active underneath Hill, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Gonzales works his way to full guard. Good work. Hill pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Gonzales is keeping the position for now. Hill wants to control from the top but Gonzales keeps moving.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Hill throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Gonzales not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Hill wants to get up but he can't break Gonzales's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Gonzales working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Hill has passed into half guard!
Hill wants to take a breather but Gonzales is having none of it.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Gonzales scoring well with a low kick there.
Hill misses with a takedown attempt and Gonzales counters with a shoot takedown. Hill fights it but they end up in guard. Gonzales tries to stand but Hill is controlling from the bottom. Hill lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Gonzales! Gonzales is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hill throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. Hill looking to control but Gonzales is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Gonzales bucks up and throws Hill to the side - he's got back to his feet. Great escape! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hill looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Hill! Hill wants to stand but Gonzales has his arm trapped. Hill thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Hill slips into full mount, dodging the strikes by Gonzales.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Hill unloads with some shots from mount but Gonzales bucks and avoids them well.
Hill will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Hill tries to control but Gonzales wriggling away. Gonzales is looking to get to half guard. Rafael Gonzales has got the better of the ground game so far. Hill looking to control but Gonzales is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Hill throws a leg kick and Gonzales counters with a nice double leg into side control. Hill won't be happy with that. Hill gets back to half guard. Gonzales is looking to stall here but Hill recovers full guard. Gonzales has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Hill is proving hard to escape from. Gonzales postures up.

Rafael Gonzales really dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Hill misses with a takedown and Gonzales finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body. Hill tries for a takedown but Gonzales circles away easily and Gonzales counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Gonzales trying to control the position from guard on top but Hill is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Hill controls Gonzales momentarily but Gonzales frees himself. Gonzales drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Hill manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Gonzales has Hill in his guard. Hill has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Gonzales is proving hard to escape from. It's got to the stage where if one of these guys blows hard enough, the other might fall over.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hill stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gonzales swivels though and keeps the full guard. Hill slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Gonzales is trying to get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Hill tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Hill wants to control for a moment but Gonzales uses the opportunity to move back to half guard. Hill not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Hill seems to be looking for submissions.
Hill is working for a kimura here but Gonzales manages to reverse the position and he's now in Hill's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hill keeping moving, preventing Gonzales from controlling successfully. Gonzales stands up from Hill's guard - Gonzales perhaps looking for a knockout. Gonzales circles away from the clinch attempt so Gonzales counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Hill looking for a sweep. Not yet Hill, not yet.

Hill wants to clinch but Gonzales slips to the side and Gonzales counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Gonzales wants to stand but Hill has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Hill is trying to keep Gonzales in close.

Rafael Gonzales dominated that fourth round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!
Hill fails with the takedown and Gonzales counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Hill! Gonzales jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Hill manages to avoid the submission attempt. Gonzales looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Hill is trying to control Gonzales's posture but Gonzales avoids it. Gonzales tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Gonzales is wobbling all over the place through exhaustion. Will he make it to the final bell? Gonzales misses with an attempted head punch from side control.

Hill tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Gonzales wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Gonzales prevents Hill from escaping the position.

Mark Hill seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hill misses with a takedown attempt and Gonzales counters with a takedown into side control. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mark Hill. That's going to take a lot out of him. Hill struggling a bit here. Gonzales has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Gonzales wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Hill, who protects the arm well. Hill is trying to control Gonzales's posture but Gonzales avoids it. Gonzales working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

And that's the end of the fight! Rafael Gonzales comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Gonzales has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today.
