Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Matti Vanhoillinen and Arvi Lind.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from simpson.
simpson tries to clinch but Carlson moves out of range.
Carlson shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in simpson's guard.
Carlson wants to control from the top but simpson keeps moving.
simpson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

simpson wants to stand but Carlson is controlling the position.

Carlson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Carlson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

simpson parries the strikes from Carlson easily there. Carlson is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable simpson to escape.

Carlson is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!

and Carlson counters by clinching up.

Carlson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. simpson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Carlson throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
A head kick from simpson lands but Carlson takes it in his stride.
Carlson rushes simpson and presses him up against the cage.
A frustrated look appears on simpson's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Carlson has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed simpson clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
simpson wants to control his opponent's hands but Carlson gets his hands free.

simpson wants to escape the position.

simpson is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Carlson gets his way!

simpson rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
simpson wants to clinch but Carlson slips to the side
and Carlson decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in simpson's guard.
simpson has his foot on Carlson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Carlson works his way back into a safe position though.
simpson is trying to keep Carlson in close.
